Post Newline Downsizing?

I just read over at IMDb that New Line is downsizing due to the AOL/Time Warner merger. There were 18 cuts in the Home Video dept alone.

Am I the only one who thinks that this might lead to a drop in quailty?

It might mean no New Line at all. New Line had a rather awful year, and they're gambling a lot on LotR.

I'm also wondering if Rhino will be knocked out entirely...

Yeah, I'm real worried about a drop in their DVD quality now. I'm also worried about the possibility of cutting funds for post-production on LOTR.

I don't think this is a good sign at all.

I don't think LOTR is a very big risk. If the first one does as well as it should, then I don't think funding will be a problem. But with the sacking of Mike De Luca, etc, there might be a nasty drop in total output. I'm just hoping they do what's necessary to keep quality high.

I mean after the se7en disc, how could they go wrong?

Lets hope this doesn't effect the possibilities for a Freddy vs Jason movie. Call me a sucker, but I love any and all Halloween/F13th/NOES movies. I suppose FvJ possibilities depends on the success of Jason X.

NEW LINE didn't have a great '00 but I think they'll bounce back this year. They have RUSH HOUR 2 which will probably make about $100 Million and it won't take much for JASON X to make a profit. As for the LOTR Trilogy, well they cost a total of $270 Million but I see FELLOWSHIP OF THE RINGS making about $180-$200 and that is in the U.S.alone.These are event films and will easily make a profit.

I seriously believe that the LOTR trilogy will be the next Star Wars
