R2 Giallo Box Set - anyone know anything about it?

http://www.play.com/play247.asp?sear...&Go.x=0&Go.y=0

It's being released by "Platinum Media Distribution", sounds dodgy.

Looks iffy.I noticed that the box art lists PHENOMENA as being in the set,but the discription says PROFONDO ROSSO is included, either the website discription is wrong or the actual info from the box is,either way,be sure what you're buying. The discription says nothing about whether the films are letterboxed, you really need widescreen with Argento. If you can play multi region discs(and if you can still track them down) the American Anchor Bay releases of PROFONDO ROSSO (DEEP RED) and CAT O'NINE TAILS are very nice.ABs PHENOMENA is older but has some nice extras.VCI has a pretty good disc of BIRD out,Blue Underground claims to be putting out a new version of BIRD later this year.As for this set,I'd wait for a review or some response from Amazon.com before buying this.

Yea, theres a lot of dodgy R2 stuff going about. Anchor Bay UK tend to be okay, just got their release of The Crazies which is a licensed version of the R1 Blue Underground disc. I can play R1 okay, so I'll just get the US versions to be on the safe side.

Platinum sucks. Even their cover art will make you wonder what kind of ink jet they own to do such a bad job

Seriously though, they're not known for quality. Each of these movies are already out, via Platinum, in the UK, and I've seen them. This is not, sadly, a release to get excited about unless they're done some work on them.
