Amityville: The Awakening

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unZgZVs7vG0

http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/780...ee-trailer-now

Hey, remember that trailer we told you about yesterday for Amityville: The Awakening? Well, how about you watch it for yourself right now? Sound good? You betcha!

Jennifer Jason Leigh stars as lead character Joan, a single mother who moves her three kids into the Amityville house, which of course has a very dark history. Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, Taylor Spreitler, and McKenna Grace are also on board.

Maniac remake helmer Franck Khalfoun directs.

Dimension had planned on reigniting the popular horror franchise using a found-footage angle, but that idea has been dropped. Amityville: The Awakening remains scheduled for release on January 2, 2015.

Daniel Farrands and Casey La Scala co-wrote the script and produce with Jason Blum of hit factory Blumhouse.

Synopsis
Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother's expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn't telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.

I'm a big Jennifer Jason Leigh fan. That, plus the fact that they dropped the "found footage" angle, means I'll check it out.

Well Jennifer Jason Leigh is always good and she looks creepy here, though underused. The trailer didn't really excite me but I'm sure I'll see it at some point - I've seen all the other Amityville movies.

Love the Amityville Horror! But I wish they would just produce a mini series of the original book. This new movie looks a tad crap... Especially as the director of the great Maniac remake is at the helm.

Wow! The design of the house, both interior and exterior, basically looks the same as the one used in the first three movies. Makes it look like it's set in the same world as the original trilogy.

I'm interested in seeing it, and the trailer was intriguing. The Maniac remake was pretty good IMO.

At least we're not getting super-cheap DTV crap...

Just happy that I'll be able see that eternally creepy Amityville house on the big screen again.

Yeah the fact that the house looks like the original 1979 films house and not the remake makes me excited for this.

Had no idea they were making this. looks like all the others. C.G.I. and quick shots of scares. Give me Amityville 2 any day. Ok, Jason leigh is looking old. but the cool point here is that they went back to using the original house. That's cool, but they showed too much in the trailer..

Hopefully the release of this movie will get the studios to release the rest of the Amityville sequels on blu-ray.

Not saying much, but this has to be better than the 2005 remake.

The Amityville house made out of human shit shown on the screen for 90 mins would be better than the 2005 version.

Any news on this film? I was really interested in checking it out but I haven't heard it mentioned in quite a while. Anyone know what's up?
