Maybe not an appearance from Wes Craven but certainly some oversight. Hill Have Eyes and Last House on the Left remakes were a lot better than that turd of a film.

I read the script a while back. It was pretty blah. All of the best bits are spoiled in the previous trailer.
Also, the only surprise it has to offer has already been spoiled. You're not supposed to know that Jane Levy's character is the "new Ash", but it has already been plastered all over every news article on the remake. For the first 75% of the screenplay, you are lead to believe that Shiloh Fernandez's character is the new Ash, and Jane Levy's character is the new Cheryl. It's not until the finale that the tables are turned. Why they would chose to spoil this in the film's publicity is beyond me. If they stuck to the script I read (which I'm fairly confident they did, as it matches the trailer very closely), this will be just another dull, hollow Hollywood remake. |

I just can't fathom why on earth they made the decision to have the possessed have pupils. As much as I want to love this and as great as it is looking, I just am not going to be able to get over the fact that they have pupils. When I was a kid watching the original, that is a huge thing that freaked me out completely and to have them all have pupils will just ruin it for me. I know myself and I know that I'll always be looking at the possessed and asking why or I simply won't allow myself to fully get into the movie because every time I see a possessed, it will take me right out of the movie.

Just saw the red band trailer and although it still looks like a little Platinum Dunes-y, I have to admit, the more footage I see of this flick, the more I actually want to see it.

That trailer is wild. I shut off after a minute because i didn't want anything spoiled before the theater. The violence and scares look insane, and I cannot pretend that the original Evil Dead had a very complicated or surprising plot. Kids, cabin, demonic possessions. Plus, the effects look better than plenty of remakes (so far). Anyway, I've gone from hating this idea to being legitimately interested. Here's hoping.

I'm looking forward to this re-imagining. And the pupils bit doesn't bother me, this isn't the original.

What's with that stupid poster for the remake of The Evil Dead - it looks some strung-out chick stumbling around Coachella. Hardly hints at the hyper-violent, fast-assault demon-possessed antics in the original film.
