The Exorcist remake ( NO! )
This does it, i hate Hollywood with a passion. A remake of one of the best horror films ever made, very big mistake. First it was the Evil Dead and now this, i hope this does not happen. Hollywood has gone crazy these days with remakes, and not with original crappy films but classics. You can never remake a classic, the original is and always will be the classic one so why remake it.

Not a huge fan of the original, so I don't feel any affinity with it. Remake away on this one..... (I wish I could more consistent with regard remarks, but hey, what can you do).

Nothing surprises me anymore. Hollywood has officially run out of ideas. Obviously Halloween’s next.
IMO The Exorcist is one of the best films ever made period. And should have won more Oscars then it did. The only way the remake would top the original is if it won best picture and I doubt that's going to happen. So why remake it. Last edited by Ash28M; 02-09-2005 at 10:06 PM. |

Yes it's official Hollywood has gone down the toilet, not even a plunger can save Hollywood with these remakes. I won't be surprised if one year that Hollywood will remake Citizen Cain, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind ( hope this does'nt happen but with Hollywood you can never tell ), i wonder what these directors of the originals think of all these remakes of there own films.

Remakes have pretty much existed since the beginnings of film. My feeling is that remakes generally don't detract from their predecessors unless they're better.
DOTD '04 was a dumb idea, IMHO, but I don't really feel that it impacts Romero's original masterpiece at all. Still an all-time classic. I'd say the same for Psycho '99 and Jan de Bont's atrocious The Haunting remake. Besides, I think films that are from literary sources, such as The Exorcist, and two of the above named, are always likely candidates for remakes. Look at Vanity Fair and how many times that story has been filmed. Hollywood is just doing what it's always done, putting it's money where there is money to be made. If the public likes a story once, chances are they might like it again. Just my two cents. Just thought I should play devil's advocate since no one had yet.

Bad idea all around, especially since Exorcist IV was really nothing special. The Exorcist is one of my top horror films, I will avoid seeing the remake for fear of ruining my memories of it. I wonder what William Peter Blatty would think of this?

Shit, why don't they just remake Star Wars? Well, I guess Lucas sorta does that on his own...never mind.
I think this one may well flop pretty badly, though, because it seems like the original just doesn't cast a spell over a lot of younger viewers. |
