Phantasm OAR

Does anyone know what the OAR of the Phantasm movies is? I notice xploited cinema has a 2 disc widescreen special edition of Phantasm 2 and I was wondering if it was a cropped widescreen or OAR.

I would guess that given the low-budget nature that all four were shot open matte with the intention of cropping them down to 1.85:1

I think Phantasm is 1.66:1 . The box says 1.85:1 but it's not. I think it's letterbox at 1.66:1 aproximately. I'm talking about the region 1 edition by MGM.

The letterboxed edition of Phantasm definitely removes some info as compared to the full frame version (of course, that's probably how it showed theatrically).

In the scene where the Tall Man is walking down the street near Reggie's Ice Cream, he walks by the "Julian General Store", which is a real store in Julian CA, right outside San Diego. You only see the sign in the full frame version.
