Thumbs up Bava fans rejoice!

This is from Fangoria:

Quote:
Fango just got the scoop from a source at Anchor Bay Entertainment regarding new titles, dates and content for the company’s heavy upcoming horror DVD slate. Among the most exciting news is that the Bay has acquired a slew of Mario Bava films for new disc releases in 2006. While these titles have been out on DVD before, the source says, "We’re going to go back and start from scratch, and put together new special editions for each one." Among these movies will be KIDNAPPED (pictured), the road thriller previously released Stateside in a limited edition titled RABID DOGS before new scenes were added recently by Bava’s son Lamberto; both versions of the film will be part of the disc package.
This is fantastic news! I've been hoping for something like this. They make it sound like most of the Bava catalog is going to get an overhaul. Totally awesome!

The announcement also mentioned Divimax re-releases of Halloween 4 & 5 and Evil Dead 2.

Thanks alot!
I haven't seen many Bava DVDs yet but most of them could do with an upgrade I heard.
Now that Raro (Baron Blood & Bay Of Blood),Tartan (Blood And Black Lace) and Anchor Bay US/UK (Hatchet For The Honeymoon and now more) are releasing Bava on DVD I get the chance to see the marvel that is Bava!

I'd love for them to do a restored and uncut Kill Baby Kill. All I have is the Diamond DVD. Dying to see Kidnapped/Rabid Dogs.

Rabid Dogs might be Bava's best film, and it has an awesome ending. I think the only Bava films that are better are Blood & Black Lace and The Drop of Water segment from Black Sabbath.

Bava was a real pioneer,I'm thrilled that his work is finding a wider audience and getting a dvd upgrade.

Is that all the Bava films they are going to release or are they going to do others like maybe a re-release of Blood & Black Lace. Does VCI own the rights to that?

Was TotDN shot in Italian?
The Raro only has Italian audio and English subs...
Perhaps we should wait a while longer and see what AB does with it??

And De Rossi thanks for comparison. At least we can see there is a difference .
