Bloody Disgusting - If Sam Raimi announcing a remake of Evil Dead didn't put the nail in the coffin, the news posted here that Quentin Tarantino is in negotiations to direct Friday the 13 part 12 pretty much sealed the deal. Now that the Freddy vs Jason vs Ash project can be officially proclaimed dead, we feel it's now safe to unveil the actual treatment that almost became a feature film- the one Sam Raimi passed on for the Evil Dead remake. I think it's a fanboy's wet dream, but now it's finally your turn to decide.

After reading that treatment, it's easy to see why Raimi passed.

The plot was so ridiculous and something we've seen a million times. The good teenager group and bad teenager group was cheesy. It didn't clearly explain how Freddy and Jason came back from being destroyed. Why was Ash searching for the Necronomicon for so long, he's out of trouble, why should he care? Ash with a guitar case, sounds like desperado. Using Jason's mother to trick him, sounds farmiliar. They even had the token black guy and gratutious nudity outlined in the treatment.
Thats just some of the problems I had with the treatment.

I thought that the treatment sounded like a blast! But I guess it doesnt matter now.....
Considering the ridiculousness of putting those 3 characters together, I thought it pulled it off with the right level of tongue in cheek humour combined with faithfulness to the 3 franchises but, oh well.... For the record I also love the first FvJ... |

I'll have to join the chorus of people who think this is a bad idea.
It just feels... Cheap. |

I think a movie with Ash/Freddy/Jason could be cool, but it would be hard to come up with a story that would work and satisfy fans of all three series. |
