Transylvania 6-5000?

What's the deal with this film... I see Anchor Bay has it paired up with ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK, which I remember finding quite amusing when I was young (don't know if it would be worth owning though). The cast on T65000 seems pretty good (Jeff Goldblum, Jeffrey Jones, Geena Davis) so I was thinking it might be something worth seeing. Thoughts? Opinions?

I liked it much more when I was a kid, but still enjoy watching it every now and then. They used to play it on HBO and Cinemax all the time. It's a nice little 80's comedy however, and very cheesy and ludicrous when I look at it today. I do believe I may have even seen it in the theater when it was first released.

Thumbs up

It's totally retarded and I question why the fuck I ever thought it was funny back in the day...

...that said, I am a proud owner of the DVD, since the day it came out, and enjoy it as a bizarre 80's time-capsule. If you have an appreciation for bad movies and are up for watching a great cast of actors, who are more or less totally game for the proceedings, flail about miserably like fish on land, then you should give it a shot.

A watchable horror spoof. Nothing particularly great, quite a few hideously bad "jokes", but most are amusing and a handful even manage to be excellent. "Is fun, no?". Oh, and it's, of course, an intentional horror parody rather than a member of the "so dreadful it's unintentionally funny" disease group currently commanded by "Van Helsing".

I just got this dvd double feature and I thouhgt it wasn't a bad movie, but it's not great either. Elvira Mistress of the Dark is the much better film on this double featue set. Some parts made me laugh, but mainly because it was so moronic, but hey i still laughed

One of those movies that looks good on paper, but once it gets going you know the whole thing was just a bad idea. When dressing your leading lady as Vampirella can't even save your film, you know you're in trouble. Come to think of it that didn't even save Vampirella itself...

Awful, awful, awful movie. Have just finished working my way through Anchor Bay's Camp Classics Fright Pack and this was easily the worst of the bunch (although Elvira's not that much better). I probably would have enjoyed it when I was 8 years old, but I just felt embarrassed for the cast, who are so much better than that.
