i have a question. does anyone here go to the movie screenings that Rue Morgue Magazine puts on once a month at Bloor Cinema? if so, could you answer a couple of questions for me?
1. how much does it cost to get in? 2. how many people show up to watch the movie typically? ie. is the theatre packed? 3. I haven't been to Bloor Cinema in a while. how is the quality of the sound/picture on their screens? thank you in advance!

I've been to a few of them.
They usually cost $10, It's usually not sold out but they do pretty well. The Theatre is pretty cosy. I didn't notice the sound or pitcure quality being bad at all. They also hand out prizes before the film. it's a pretty fun time overall, no complaints here. |

I've always had a good time... haven't been able to get to the last few though.
Sometimes $10 seems a bit much for a movie that I can just rent, or already own. That being said... I'm a junky for the trivia portion of the evening - and the prizes are often worth the entry fee

All very, very available... I've seen plenty of new ones there myself... Toolbox Murders, Blood Feast 2, The Manson Family, Junk, Dead and Breakfast... All I'm saying is that LATELY there hasn't been anything offered that I can't rent, or just pull down off of my own shelf. |

I noticed a lot of already on dvd releases also which is the reason I have been lacking in attendance lately. I will still go for the films I haven's seen yet. The best was the screening of Aftermath. I had it on video already but it was fun to see people faint. Mind you, that screening was still at the old location.
I don't understand how Mark of the Devil and Aliens 3 qualify as being not yet on Region 1 dvd, but yes, they do screen the odd Dead and Breakfast that has not been released even elsewhere to my knowledge. It is just that it is a rarity to see a film that itsn't on already on dvd. Word. |
