Children of the Corn 2 dvds....

I have the whole series on region 1 dvd except for part 2. I see a disc at my local shop from Top Ten Media (I know, they suck ass!) Now I realize I could get a dvd from another region, but if its going to be full screen, I am wondering if I will be getting the same thing by just picking up the Top Ten disc. I see that Anchor Bay U.K. has released this dvd and I am wondering if it is anamorphic widescreen?

O.A.R. was 1.33:1 but they made a brand new 16:9 transfer. Same thing they did with EVIL DEAD and HELLRAISER 3. At least the 4:3 version is there for purists like me. :-)

anchorbay.uk have awful DTS tracks, just as a warning. It sounds like an echo chamber, the same sound from all speakers
doesnt6 apply to all titles but the films not made for DTS sound usually sound like crap
check the last house on the left dvd for proof

My Alligator and Hellraiser sets sound nice and all are DTS. No way was Alligator made for DTS, doubtful on the first couple Hellraisers as well.

I was wondering the same thing. Some people seem to think OAR refers to how a film is shot. What they fail to realize is that many films are shot in 4:3 (1.33:1) and matted to a 16:9 widescreen ratio (usually 1.66:1, 1.78:1, or 1.85:1) in the theaters. OAR refers to the ratio in which the film was first presented to the public. Thus, if a film first gets released in widescreen in the theaters, that widescreen ratio is its OAR. It may have been shot in 1.33:1, but the director always intended it to be matted to widescreen in the theater. That's why 16x9 enhanced widescreen transfers on DVD are such a great thing. TV movies are a different story. For a majority of TV movies (especially from years past) the OAR is 1.33:1.

hellraiser was nice I agree, Alligator? didn't really sound that great, like I said not all releases are the same, but many of the DTS tracks are lousy

for anyone who has this set - is part 1 basically the 20th Anniversary Divimax Edition from R1? how is the R2 pic quality? I never picked that up and this set would fill that plus I'd be getting 2 & 3 which I never got.

In certain type of films:

1.33:1 ---> YOU CAN SEE A LOT MORE (sometimes too much, you might see boom mikes or underwear in people who suposedly were naked).
EXAMPLES: Return of the Living Dead, Night of the Living Dead 90 (they have both things in the Region 1 DVD matted and unmatted, it's a flipper).
Terminator 3 you can see Kristanna Loken tits in the FULL SCREEN version (download the T3 video from this homepage http://kloken.free.fr/pages/videofilm.php and compare it to your WS DVD)

Of course the theatrical exhibition is the one to go. But some people like me want to see more than it was intended ALWAYS, no matter which aspect ratio square people waant to see everything in.

It is the same as the Divimax R1, and the pic quality looks great to my eyes. I hadn't seen Parts II or III until I got this set. Even if the original isn't a great film, the set was so cheap, I went for it. I still think the fourth film is easily the best of the series.
