So what about Whispers In The Dark/Un Sussuro Nel Buio?
Listed as coming soon at NoShame's site:
Whispers In The Dark by Marcello Aliprandi Music by Pino Donaggio Any more info? Edit:actually the title would correctly translate:A Whisper In The Dark |

Aww, I thought this was going to be a giallo, but was disappointed to see it under "Drama" at IMDB. I think I'll pass... unless of course anyone has anything good to say about it.

At http://www.so-sweet.cwc.net/Films/un...o_nel_buio.htm it's listed as horror/drama.
And it's this... Quote:
Could be a fun flick. |

I think it sounds like it could be pretty fun too. I liked Shock alot, so if it's even similar to that it has potential to be good, at least. I'll definitally check this out when it comes out, unless someone can convince me otherwise.

i think this as 'vice is a locked door' are due the end of september. my review copies have just been sent from america, and i am interested in these because of the mention of a gothic blend in 'whispers' as i think that element of argentos movies is great - any other examples of gothic / giallo / horror things people want to point out?

Oh, this sounds so promising. Creepy kid films are my weakness.

WARNING!THIS MOVIE CONTAINS NO GORE!
Watched it yesterday and today. The story is about a young boy called Martino who has an imaginary friend. The whole family play along but are getting a bit tired of it. His parents and basically all adults in the house are afraid he's getting crazy and call in the help from a psych. In the meantime all kinds of strange accidents occur. Some people blame the imaginary friend or even Martino for all this but wasn't it just coincidence? I liked this movie but it wasn't anything like Bava's Shock.I wouldn't even call this one a horror movie. More like a creepy arthouse film. But it's a great piece of art. It moves at a slow pace but it never becomes dull. The setpieces are just gorgeous and the cinematography is great. Great location! What a wonderful villa and a beautiful garden to boot. I also liked the music. It sometimes resembled Komeda's Rosemary's Baby. Acting overall was good.Especially John Philip Law.Some of the kids weren't that great though. Dubbing is good too (I watched in English because of JP Law).I have seen worse. Basically this movie is for those people who like to watch something different for a change. If you like House With The Laughing Windows (slow pace) or Shock (creepy kids) this one's probably for you.If you want gore or many deaths, skip it. One thing about the DVD. There were a couple of abrupt cuts in the audio and some glitches in the second half of the movie.Nothing to worry about though, only audible in the music. Overall the DVD looks stunning. |

Great, thanks alot for that review, CP!
I liked both House with Laughing Windows and Shock so this one is going in my next order. I read Pino Donaggio did the music for this one? How'd that turn out?

You're welcome DefJeff
.Donaggio's music was fine, atmospheric. As I said some themes resemble Komeda's Rosemary's Baby (at least to me). I haven't heard many Donaggio scores (Argento's Trauma I didn't particularly like) but this was fine. Please don't blame me if you don't like the movie! |
