Another bad DVD hits the streets

My PHANTOM FROM 10,000 LEAGUES won't load. Or I should say, my second PHANTOM won't load either! I've returned it once already. Same thing as happened with OPERA, no-load. Crap! So how do I get to enjoy all the shlockey goodness that is THE PHANTOM? No word from Retromedia as yet.

OMG!

Who the hell is pressing these DVDs? Wamo? If you own both Opera and Phantom, can you please check the firm that presses/does the authoring?

Ok, fess up. Who pressed this!

I have no idea who does the pressing. The packaging ain't sayin', and obviously the secret is safe on the DVDs.

Retromedia Update

Retromedia did get back with me yesterday. here is their very kind reply:

Unfortunately there are a few older dvd players that don't handle some disks well. We've been advised that part of the problem may be that the disks contain too much material and future editions of this title will handle this situation. We've also been told that you can have your RAM increased on your machine and it will solve a lot of problems.
We're sorry for the inconvenience and have had some problems ourselves with our 1998 machine. If you'd like to send the disks directly back to us we will refund your purchase.

End Quote.

Well there you have it. 548 DVDs work just fine. One does not. Obviously the problem is my equipment (ooh, that sounded a little personal there.) Anyhow, at least they are willing to give a refund, which is more than some. I thank them for their honesty and quick reply.

I know it sounds crazy but they could be right. I thought the same thing as you did when the Hammer discs i bought at Suncoast wouldn't play after about 45 minutes. This happened on all 3 discs i bought. I wouldn't believe it was my player since all the rest of my 300 discs played alright. Well I was wrong. I took the discs to Circuit Shitty and tried it on some other players and the discs worked fine even on a cheap Apex. I ended up getting a newer player that was a lot better than the one I had and it plays all my discs now. I know it sucks, I wish the damn dvd player companies and the dvd manufacturers would fix these incompatibility problems once and for all. So don't be so quick to believe it's not your player try it out on a different one. I'm not saying it's not the dvd but just try out what I say it could be surprising
