The Official Golan/Globus Appreciation Thread

In the annals of Motion Picture history, there have been few parterships that have produced as much pure cheese as that of Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus. Please take a moment and bask in their glory, for without them, we may never have had Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, or Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

Ahh, the folks behind New Year's Evil and Hospital Massacre, two classic bad movies that I have loved since childhood. In fact, I have had my VHS tapes of those movies for that long as well. Thank you guys for your work in bad cinema. Thank you. *tears up*

I have no idea if they were Jews or not. According to the bio on imdb, they were born in Palestine pre-Israel in 1929 and 1941 and are of Polish decent.

Yeah, they sure had their hand in a lot of JUNK! Some are favs of mine but only because I grew up watching them & are part of my childhood (namely Salsa!, Superman IV & Master Of The Universe), but even THOSE are pure CHEESE!

SO, dare I ask, Where R They Now? Did they just retire?

I love GG. These guys are responsible for so much good film its unreal. And they were also the home studio during the 80's for two of my favorite action stars of all time Chuck Norris and Charles Bronson. And Golan even directed Franco Nero in Enter the Ninja, which kicked ass. I wish these guys were around today making more films that kicked ass and took no names.

Yay, sign me up for more of the Cannon love, I've seen most of the titles there believe it or not, and own a good deal of them, even Puss In Boots with Christopher Walken "I'm singing the happy cat song!". They're still around mostly involved in cheapjack action movies lensed in Israel, but I doubt they'll ever re-reach the glory days of Tough Guys Don't Dance, but even some movies on their downward spiral were great, anyone else love American Cyborg: Steel Warrior?

Anyone?

It's got Joe Lara and John P Ryan?

The reason it's not complete is because this is a Golan-Globus thread, not a Cannon Thread. Although it's true that they ran Cannon throughout the 80s, not every Cannon release was a Golan-Globus production. Some films of theirs predate their involvement in Cannon (which they bought in 1979), and others were merely picked up and distributed by them, not actually "produced". For example, The Great Skycopter Rescue (which SUCKS by the way) according to imdb was produced by George and Lawrence Foldes.

Now, I'm not saying this list is by anymeans complete (I'm relying on imdb afterall) but a lot of these titles were known under alternate titles as well. After Cannon dissolved, Golan and Globus parted ways. Any movies produced by 21st Century involved Golan by himself, not paired with Globus.
