A new Nightmare on Elm Street box in works?

Not even two years ago the "Nightmare on Elm Street" R1 box set was sold for almost 100 dollars, and recently I see it offered for little more than 30 USD. I used this chance, but I'm wondering if this is an indication of a new box set coming out soon, as such price drops are usually the first signs of this...

(If such a new set is being prepared, I would like to hope that the only addition is the inclusion of the wretched "Freddy versus Jason" - even though it does not belong anywhere near the series - as that would make the new box very easy to ignore...)

I wouldn't mind if they just re-released the original, and drop the snappers in favor of keepcases or digipacks. And add the entire series of "Freddy's Nightmares" as bonus features while they're at it.

I believe they're re-releasing the old box which has been somewhat discussed here

They are just re-releasing the same box set two years ago, just priced a lot lower. About a year ago, it was down to $65.00.

It'd be nice if they'd re-release the first one uncut.

I'd only double-dip if it had some amazing extras (how much more could there be?!) or if every film came in an extended cut.

It'd be nice if they all had commentary, and the 5th one was the uncut version and all had behind the scenes footage. Someone who worked on Part 3 filmed tons of shit you'll probably never see. I saw an auction for a dub of the footage about a year or so ago on Ebay.

The funniest part of that is, I have a dvd of that footage I got in a trade, and I'll probably never see it either as what I have is unwatchable. I've tried, but what I have makes that Within The Woods download look like it's mastered in Hi-Def.

I believe a buddy of mine has one of the first dupes of it and he said it didn't look all that bad.

The first box is always in the Sales section of HMV in the UK. I have the first movie (deluxe LD version) but can't really motivate myself to buy the series. If the versions were extended, that may swing my decision.

I think the only reason the price is dropping so drastically, is the fact that these TV-on-DVD seasonal sets that are put out now, are getting so damn low in price, that a company, can throw a full season of 22 one-hour episodes bare-bones on DVD, and only charge $20 bucks for it nowadays. Consumers are looking at this, and saying they can get 11-hours worth or programming/entertainment for only $20 bucks of their favorite show.

People are simply not willing to pay for these $100 film box sets anymore. I've watched them in stores countless times, loving to pick something up, and putting it back, because of price. The TV-on-DVD craze as spoiled the market for price, and the film companies are being forced to lower their prices on these sets, just so SOMEONE will buy them. Even though Paramount & New Line are two different things, I wouldn't be shocked if down the road Paramount didn't have to start marking down their "F13" box set, even though they used flippers, instead of per-film-per-DVD, like New Line did with "NOES".

Actually, the discs in the Friday the 13th set weren't flippers. Paramount just crammed two movies on one side ... I wish they had been flippers ... and uncut ...
