Angry Friday The 13th Part V Disc Problems

I just got the new DVD releases of F13 5 and 6 today and am having a problem with part 5...

About 1/3 of the way through, during the diner scene, the screen freezes, pixilates and moves forward, only to freeze and pixel again. I tried playing it several times with the exact same result each time.

Am I alone? I hope this is something Paramount will address as Anchor Bay has with the Opera discs. Does anyone have any news on this to help me out?

-I'm glad it's not part 6, because part 5 stinks !. No seriously, I doubt it's the disc, it's probably the player. Paramount is one of the best studios out there when it comes to all-round DVD quality, IMO. -I sure hope they're not getting sloppy.

My problem is I can't even find a store to buy them at! I looked all over and no stores had 'em.

I know what you mean. I went to Best Buy, Circuit Shitty, Walmart, etc. and no such luck. I managed to find a copy of Jason Lives at a Meijer store. They didn't have A New Beginning or Tales From the Darkside. What a pain in the ass!

I knew I wouldn't find these in stores so I pre-ordered them online and got them a week before street date

I went back to that scene in Part 5 and it played perfect, like Yowie said it is probably the player. See if you can play it on a friends disc without any problems.

I've had this problem with my Die Hard With A Vengance supplement disc, where it would pixelate and then freeze during one of the documentaries. It worked fine on my other player though, so that might be the same problem you are having. Hope that helps!

Smile Your help

Thanks for all the help! I have since tried the disc again in the same player and it works fine (???!!?!?) so I have no idea what was going on.

Thanks again!

Question Maybe?

This is going to sound dumb, but make sure your disc isn't scratched or scuffed, or you didn't put a fingerprint on it.

That will make the picture all goofy sometimes and cause disc skipping, pixel hell and the like.

I know that this has nothing to do with the disc problems, but did anyone notice that on the back of Jason Lives they have the killer from New Beginning, I believe his name is Ray. I just thought that it was a little ridiculous because he has nothing to do with the 6th film. And I know it was him because he has the cut in his left shoulder that happened in the barn scene at the end of the 5th. I just thought I would share this and see if anyone noticed it too.

I got both of these to review for Apollo Movie Guide. Initially, I hated the new cover art, but now I kinda dig the one for Part 5.

The Part 6 one still stinks.
