Anyone Seen CYCLONE aka Ciclón (1978)?

IMDB.com

Quote:
From Rene Cardona, Jr. (GUYANA: CULT OF THE DAMNED, TINTORERA: TIGER SHARK) comes this classic tale of terror and cannibalism.

A jet plane goes down in Caribbean waters during a violent cyclone. Most of the passengers die violently or drown in the chaos, but the few survivors that remain (including Carroll (GIANT) Baker and Olga (ZOMBIE) Karlatos) are rescued by a group in a smaller boat. Lost at sea, the survivors hope for rescue but, as the days and nights pass by, they succumb to the heat and lack of food and water. Dying one by one and surrounded by man eating sharks, this group must fight to survive… even if that means resorting to cannibalism to stay alive.

Released in the USA in cut form under the title TERROR STORM, Synapse Films is proud to finally present CYCLONE in the fully uncut 118 minute International Version re-mastered in High-Definition from original vault materials.

Haven't seen this, but it caught my attention about a week back while visiting Synapse's website. I placed it high on top of my Netflix list; hopefully I'll be able to watch it the week it's released.
The story sounds good, and I really like Olga Karlatos — she gave my favorite performance in Zombie. "I asked you a question!"

A review for this is up at DVD Talk.

Sounds like it's worth me checking out.

I wasn't too sure what to think of this, but now I'm convinced I need to pick it up. Just about anything from Synapse sounds good to me anyways, but sharks and cannibalism? Sold.

I was expecting a huge cheese fest and yes, there are moments of bad dubbing but overall - good stuff! Well made natural disaster/survival action/drama. Kinda like a mix between Alive (1993) and Open Water.

Worth a looksy

How can you go wrong with Hugo Stiglitz?

Well, I suppose it's pretty easy to do.

Is it as good/bad as Tintorera?

I actually thought it was quite well done. Occasional moments of bad over-acting (which added some fun to the movie when it got a little too...serious), but one of those movies that you almost feel like you're trapped on the boat/in the water with the other people. Nice natural disaster footage and enough shark fun to make things interesting, but it's more of a movie about people stranded and how they react to it.

Pretty damn good actually.
