Three new DVDs from Media Blasters

Quote:
Fango got the scoop on a trio of titles coming on DVD in January from Media Blasters. Debuting January 17 on the Shriek Show label is THE CONFESSIONAL, a.k.a. HOUSE OF MORTAL SIN, Pete Walker’s 1976 religious shocker about a homicidal priest. The anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) transfer with 5.1 audio will be accompanied by the following extras:

• Audio commentary by Walker and ENGLISH GOTHIC author Jonathan Rigby
• Courting Controversy: An Insider’s Look at the Films in the Pete Walker Collection documentary, featuring all-new interviews with Walker, scriptwriter David McGillivray, cinematographer Peter Jessop, actress Susan Penhaligon, actor Paul Greenwood and writer Graham Duff
• Sheila Keith: A Nice Old Lady?, a featurette devoted to the British cult actress and Walker film regular
• Biographies of Walker, Keith and actress Stephanie Beacham

On January 31, another entry in the Pete Walker Collection, THE COMEBACK (a.k.a. THE DAY THE SCREAMING STOPPED) arrives. That date will also see Media Blasters’ release (on the Tokyo Shock label) of GARUDA, the Thai monster movie written, directed and edited by Monthon Arayangkoon that we first told you about here. A huge hit in its home country, GARUDA is about a flying prehistoric monster that terrorizes Bangkok after being unearthed in a subway tunnel. DVDetails on these two have yet to be finalized.

Shriek Show's new tag line: We'll try and get 'em out on the release date, but don't bet on it.

I agree totally, I have two copies of Just Before Dawn that wore out within weeks of receiving them. It will be a cold day in hell before I blow any more cash on John Sirabella's crap label.

I'd rather have sporadic great releases then a plethora of bad releases. I feel pity for any movie picked up by Shriek Show, no movie deserves such careless releases.

You won't see me mad at Blue Underground or Synapse Films because they haven't released ten DVDs every Tuesday. Maybe if Shriek Show took the extra time to do it right they wouldn't get the backlash they've recieved.

Because we're lucky if BU releases a new horror movie every 2 months. I hope they wouldn't fuck up.

For me, spelling errors and whatnot don't count as a "bad release." Sure, they've fucked up, but they've put out many, many great releases compared to their bad ones. Plus, they always seem to put interviews and such on discs that have no right to have any features on them at all. They're great in my book.

Ironically, I just asked Code Red about releasing The Comeback a few days ago. I guess now I know why I didn't get an answer. I've really been wanting The Confessional on DVD for a good while, but Image was originally listed as having the rights. Either way, if SS manages to deliver these two films in quality packages, I'll pick em up.

Yep exactly, both of those had earlier release dates that came and went. Now they're up for pre-order again with a new date, if they make the 2nd release date that is. Devil Dog was handled the same way too.

Wow, really? I hadn't even heard about this before, what exactly happened to the discs?
