That would be the "small, envelope-esque" box I was referring to. I think it's designed to keep your items from shifting around much en route, but it's also more prone to being tossed around carelessly with regular mail which more or less negates the design when it comes to items such as CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays. This design also means that any pressure applied to the box will also be applied to the contents, which is fine for dense product, like a book, but could be trouble for anything somewhat more fragile and crushable. It's only slightly more protective against gouges than a bubble mailer.

Just bought an out of print hardcover from a third party seller fulfilled by amazon. It was described as "new". It was not. It didn't smell too too bad (a bit musty/smoky), but the dust jacket was quite worn, and flipping through the pages I found a burlesque postcard (not filled out), and a CVS receipt. I'm gonna go ahead and guess "not new".

The book condition isn't all that bad actually (though I'd return it just for the smell, probably), but even if it didn't smell I'm not paying the higher price for a new book that clearly isn't new.

I got to say, never had a problem with them and when I have they corrected it quickly. Their shipping costs from the US to Canada suck though.

I have never had one problem with them, but I don't order large items from them, buy those things local, everything else DVDs, BLUs, etc. is Prime delivered UPS

Wow, I'd send that HD back. Even if it does "work" I have no doubt the life expectancy on that is now half.

Crap, I need to buy one myself soon but I always buy PC hardware from NewEgg.com. It's been awhile though so I'm paranoid NewEgg will do the same thing.

I couldn't earlier this afternoon either. Both Amazon and IMDB (Amazon owns it) were dead and wouldn't even load, so there must have been a problem on their end. It seems to be corrected now though.

I think it's hilarious that Amazon's shipping service went to shit as soon as they started offering this Prime thing of theirs. What a weird coincidence.

Amazon Prime has been around for 8 years.

So was poking around Amazon today and noticed this:

Quote:
FREE Shipping on orders over $35.
$35? I thought it was $25? Ouch.

Unless they have another Prime trial, I don't think I'll be shopping there much anymore.

These guys really dropped the ball on my last 3 pre-orders as Corruption, How to Seduce a Virgin, and The Hot Nights of Linda all did not ship on 10/8 from them; I wound up cancelling them all and buying from a 3rd party seller where they were cheaper, even with shipping, and in stock. I could see the latter 2 as they were pre-ordered maybe a week before the release date but Corruption was pre-ordered back in July, there is no excuse on that one as far as I'm concerned!

We get so much shit from Amazon, it's not really a big deal to me. $35 is easy to spend. I knew this day had to be coming soon anyway.
