Malcome McDowell in Evilenko (2004)

http://www.martoncsokas.net/evilenko.html

Has enyone ever watched this, this movie looks interesting. I loved Citizen X back in 1995, i must admit Malcome McDowell seems to fit the part.

Hm, this sounds interesting. If it has Malcolm McDowell, I am pretty much there.

Can anyone that has seen this elaborate just a bit more on how good/bad it is and why. I've picked it up and put it down a couple of times, and I'm leery about doing a blind but on it. I love serial killer films and this looks interesting.

I'd like to know a bit more about the film as well. I've seen it out to both buy and rent, and it sounds like it may be promising...but something is holding me back.

I remember enjoying Citizen X (based on the same Russian serial killer) more. As far as direct-to-video movies go, this flick was okay -- and competently delivered -- though it was far from inspiring. There wasn't much suspense or gore or character development or anything else that could elevate this from being a rather flat psychological thriller. I've never been a huge McDowell fan, but he does an adequate job, as do the rest of the cast. On a sidenote, there were some "paranormal" elements to this flick, but they were almost completely ignored, leaving you to scratch your head in wonder.

If you haven't already seen Suspect Zero, I'd check that one out, first.

Yeah Citizen X is a great movie - one of the best real life serial killer movies I think - up there with Monster. Evilenko I thought was worth watching if your interested in Chikatilo or Serial Killers, but I wouldn't buy it - it's only just above movies like the Gacy, Dahmer, Nightstalker series of movies I thought - which is mostly because of Malcolm being in it. Evilenko is more more from Chikatilo's point of view than Citizen X and interesting for that, but Citizen X is definitely the better movie. There doesn't seem to be many truly good real life serial killer movies IMO (hoping Zodiac will change that).

Evilenko I'd probably recommend no more than a rental for a first viewing. I can't remember a lot of the details about it (came out as a rental here last year sometime), so sorry I can't say much more.

Here's a good review of Citizen X from IGN if anyone else is interested...
