DEVIL’S REJECTS reunion in THR3E

Fango chatted with Bill Moseley recently, and the DEVIL’S REJECTS actor gave us the lowdown on one of his latest genre efforts, titled THR3E. “It’s a psychological thriller from Namesake Productions, directed by master filmmaker Robby Henson, and I play, believe it or not, an evil character named Slater,” Moseley tells us. “I stalk the lead guy, played by Marc Blucas from BUFFY, and I look like Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, so I’m probably the first cinematic serial killer with really long, dreadlock-type hair. We’re not sure if I really exist, so that kind of sets him apart.”

The movie was scripted by Alan B. McElroy, whose credits include HALLOWEEN 4 and WRONG TURN, from Ted Dekker’s novel, and occasions a reunion between Moseley and one of his REJECTS co-stars. “Priscilla Barnes is in the movie, and I get to torment her again,” Moseley reveals. “That was really a lot of fun; it just felt like we were kind of dancing that same old dance.” He says their scene together isn’t as extreme as the one in REJECTS, though: “I don’t think that’s possible.”

The actor enjoyed shooting THR3E, which Fox Home Video will release later this year (with limited theatrical play, à la Henson and Namesake’s current THE VISITATION, possible), on its Polish locations. “Poland is a very weird place,” he says. “We filmed in the city of Lodz, and that was especially odd because some of the locations were old, strange factories. Lodz is still very medieval in a way; it’s an old textile town, so there’s a lot of old, dark Communist influence. It’s a very cool, spooky place, and a great place to do a horror film.”

And while REJECTS fans will enjoy seeing Moseley and Barnes together again, they’re no doubt anxious to see the actor reteam with writer/director Rob Zombie. “All I’ve heard is that Rob is about to put out a new CD March 28 [see item here], and he’s touring that CD. So it’s music now, and I hope movies later.”

First thing I thought about when I read the title of this thread was Adaptation. Still, this movie sounds like it could be pretty cool.

Did a search, and this is the only thread I could find about this piece of shit. Er, I mean art. No, I mean shit. If I missed another thread, I apologize.

I'm not going to go into the details right now. If anyone else has seen this, maybe we can start a support group. For the rest of you, if you must see this, DON'T PAY FOR IT. Seriously, DON'T PAY FOR IT. In fact, I believe the theater manager will probably pay YOU the price of admission if you ask nicely, and will be very supportive once you get out and need a shoulder to cry on. At least, the manager at the theater I went to was.

I read this film was actually quite unintentionally funny and sports a completely obsurd ending. I will rent this eventually, but not if it is distributed by Weinstein(I think it might be) because they are losers.

If I recall, this is the first theatrical release from Fox's new Fox Faith division, to cater to the Christian market.

Oh yeah. Way unintentionally funny. Early on, the hero of the story is being questioned by the police after he is attacked, and the exchange goes something like this:

Cop: Sounds like it might be RK.
Hero: Who's RK?
Cop: The Riddle Killer.

wtf?! The "Riddle Killer"? Sorry, I guess "Jigsaw" was already taken. Would have been more appropriate, since the Riddle Killer is stealing Jigsaw's modus operandi.

And while investigating a crime scene, one of the officers spots a denim jacket on the ground and remarks, "That looks like a jacket."

And Priscilla Barnes, wearing what appears to be all the Captain Spaulding makeup that was left over after Rejects, plays a character inexplicably named "Princess" who wears a plastic tiara. For no apparent reason. At all.

On the plus side, it's sort of like watching a whole bunch of other movies at the same time. I won't list them (that could ruin some plot points), but you'll see four or five prominent themes that seem to be lifted straight from other mainstream movies in the genre. More value, I guess.

Edit: And as for this being a Fox Faith film, about the only thing that makes it a "Christian" film is that the main character is getting a PhD in religious studies, and at the end of the film one of the Priests/Professors with whom the character has spoken wanders onto the set, says something about God's power to overcome evil, then wanders off again. And the fact that nothing exciting happens, I guess.

Sort of a spoiler, but not really. I'll use tags, just in case.

Spoiler: And the scene where a guy wanders into the police department with a time bomb locked around his neck. They get the bomb off of the guy with only seconds to spare, and one of the officers takes the bomb and THROWS IT OUT THE WINDOW INTO THE ALLEY. I'm watching this and I'm like "What the fuck?!!? The cop just threw a bomb out the window!!!"

Priceless. Truly priceless.

not the first, there was Loves Abiding Joy which i had at the theater i work at. well we got Three and the projectionist screened it, then the company didn't schedule it for release the week it was supposed to, then they took it that Saturday. we had standees and posters set up since we had to promote it. so we figure it pretty much sucked.

You know, in a film with a title as beautiful as Thr3e, a name like that is pretty fitting!

What's with all this "ex-Devils Rejects" baloney, as though mentioning that somehow validates an actor. Sheesh.

I can't wait to rent this. This was at my local multiplex for a week, maybe more. I kinda wish I would have seen it.

I didn't think he looked much like Anthony Kiedis. He looked more like Otis from House of 1000 Corpses. Considering how much this movie rips off, though, I guess I didn't even notice that until now.
