Malcolm McDowell cast as Dr Loomis in Halloween remake

http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/7869

This is such a shock, its great casting IMO, should be totally different to Donald Pleasance's take.

That is GREAT news as far as I'm concerned! I don't know how they could have done any better.

Yep, am wondering if he's to gain some weight or if the story is going to be that after all those years, he finally lost some!

hehe, sorry guys, we're talking about a Halloween nr 9(!), don't matter who is going to direct it but if you've read the storyline, it seems old and tired. when this comes out, i'll surely watch it, but in cinema's or on DVD (borrowed from a friend), I don't know

the idea of another actor portraying Loomis is just ugly. I just can't see it. McDowell has given a lot of terrible performances recently, to be honest.

I've great expectations from this movie. My gut feeling is that Mr. Zombie will deliver the goods.

McDowell is inspired casting, IMHO.

I was hoping for Ian Holm, but McDowell will be interesting. Maybe he'll add a little pseudo-intellegence to the role with an English accent.

I think its great casting, even if he might have given flat performances recently he's been doing s**t movies, mostly straight to video, made for TV stuff. Maybe he will deliver a good performance in a bigger film such as this.

WOW! That's some positive news! Hopefully Zombie will deliver. He's done a good job on his other films and from what I've heard, anything should be better than the last Halloween. Believe it or not, I have never seen it. Only one I haven't seen or own. I'll find it cheap some day and pick it up.

I'm not hopping on this train. Malcom McDowell? Eh. Ian Holm might've been cool. Visually I can see him as closer to Pleasance, but I won't write this one off yet until I've seen it.

So, those early rumors of Verne Troyer as Loomis didn't come to fruition?

I am not sure how to feel about this casting. It could be a suprisingly great choice- this isnt a remake- its a reimaging so a different take on Loomis might be interesting- course then again this casting decision could bomb- I still dont like the reimaging thing- rather see a sequal- but im not putting this project in the dumpster until i see it for myself.

That casting looks awesome! Now if only Sid Haig could get a part in it....
