The Baby (1973)

Has anyone here seen this movie? I just watched it the other day after buying a used copy of the budget release for $2.50, and it was certainly money well spent. It's about a social worker who pays a visit to a family that takes care of an adult baby! The movie just gets weirder and weirder, and the ending will have your jaw dropping to the floor. It's one of the most bizarre movies I've ever seen. The Baby has an awesome 70's TV-movie feel and stars the amazing Ruth Roman, who delivers an incredibly campy and memorable performance ("You goddamned bitch!") as the mother of "Baby". Yes, that's his name.

For some reason the OOP Image release of this title lists on Amazon.com and eBay at prices ranging from $70-$90, but I can't see why anyone would buy that when there is a budget release available for about $6 and it uses the same pristine transfer from the previous DVD. Buy it immediately!

Oh, I bought it at The Exchange. It was near the register because it was so cheap.

The Baby is great! It's actually one of the inspirations for my next piece.

I love this film dearly and I'd hate to part with the DVD, even for the insane prices they're selling 'em for on Amazon. If I could get that budget release, I may consider it though.

I saw this one about 3 years ago [the local Hollywood Video actually had the DVD]....warped little movie that deserves a lot more attention.

I like this movie alot. I had wanted to see it for years, but none of the stores I rented from in the 80s-90s carried it on VHS. Finally rented the Image disc from netflix...and picked up the budget release last DDD sale. I really liked Marianna Hill in this movie.

I have it on VHS. I can't believe this movie is only rated PG!

I don't know if it is me being sleazy but I clearly (and only) remember the scene where the babysitter lets 'Baby' suck on her breasts, only to be beaten to death!

If this one lies in the shops one day, I think i'll pick it up!

I finally got this. Just like Ryan said, the actress who plays the Mother is a real treat and the ending is unexpected and excellent. A solid 8/10
