All right, since its useless to try and get The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly in.
What a shame.

I'm gonna have to bust this grindhouse beauty out:

Five Deadly Venoms

Great selection! One of the best Shaw Brothers kung fu films and easily one of my personal favorites starring The Venoms. The IMDB has a remake of The Five Deadly Venoms listed for 2009. The thought of CGI fueled kung fu Venoms doesn't excite me.

Yes, a CGI version would be a horrible idea. They need to leave this film alone. But obviously they won't and its a go:

Quote:
Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau (shown left in House of Flying Daggers) is planning to finance a remake of the Shawscope classic kung-fu film: Five Deadly Venoms (also known as Wu Du / Five Venoms / Shaolin Deadly Poisons). The original film was made by late martial-arts film director Chang Cheh.

The report claims the cast will most likely include Maggie Q (Live Free or Die Hard, Mission Impossible III) and Lau himself. The most surprising part of the story is that the film will be shot in English by director Kirk Wong (Jackie Chan: Crime Story).

Released in 1978, the original film tells the story of the dying master of the powerful Poison Clan who dispatches his last pupil (Yan) on a crucial mission. Worried that the skills he has taught are being used to evil ends, he orders the pupil to trace a retired colleague and warn him that the fortune he amassed from the clan activities is under threat from five of his former students, known as The Five Venoms. Each of the Five Venoms has a lethal skill learned from a toxic animal. They are Centipede, Snake, Scorpion, Lizard and Toad.

Yan must discover the whereabouts and true identities of the deadly masked warriors, and decide which, if any, he can trust to join him in his perilous mission.

Little known trivia: The "snake" role was originally intended for a woman.

Shooting would begin right after the Chinese New Year next spring.

I would prefer the movie be left alone. At least I can always pop in my uncut pristine Region 3 dvd of The Five Deadly Venoms any time I want the real deal!

This one might seem rather mainstream, but we gotta have a Russ Meyer film on here... I'm voting for Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.
