Outstanding news. Strange that Synapse would buy the rights for Countess Dracula and not The Vampire Lovers seeing as they are set to release Twins of Evil soon. I'm not complaining though, the more Hammer on Blu-ray the better.

I received shipping notification for Frat House Massacre. Really excited for this one, it will hopefully be a new guilty pleasure favorite like Camp Slaughter.

Can you say "Joy!"?:
"MANIAC COP, scripted by Larry Cohen and starring Tom Atkins and Bruce Campbell as NYC police tracking the butcher in blue played by Robert Z’Dar, arrives October 11 on Blu-ray, retailing for $24.95, with an anamorphic 1.85:1 transfer and DTS 6.1 Surround sound. The extras (the first two of which are new to this edition) are: “Out the Window” interview with Atkins • “Three Minutes with Danny Hicks” featurette • “MANIAC COP Memories” featurette with Z’Dar • Motion still gallery • Additional Japanese TV scenes • Theatrical trailer • TV spots and Spanish radio spot Michael Felsher of Red Shirt Pictures, producer of the COP supplements, is also putting together the extras for Synapse’s upcoming releases of Scott Spiegel’s supermarket-slasher opus INTRUDER and Josh Becker’s killer-cult shocker THOU SHALT NOT KILL…EXCEPT. “For INTRUDER, we have an audio commentary with Scott Spiegel and [producer] Lawrence Bender,” Felsher tells Fango, “and a making-of documentary with Scott, Lawrence, [actress] Elizabeth Cox, Greg Nicotero, Howard Berger, Robert Kurtzman, Burr Steers, Craig Stark, Ted Raimi and others. There will also be trailers, audition footage, outtakes from the original NIGHT CREW short film, deleted and extended gore scenes from the workprint version, and more. “For THOU SHALT NOT KILL, the previous commentary [by Becker and Bruce Campbell] will be there, plus a new one with me and lead actor Brian Schulze. There will also be a documentary featuring Josh Becker, Scott Spiegel, Ted Raimi, Robert Rickman, John Manfredi, Tim Quill and others."" |

so does this mean the commentary on the previous synapse maniac cop dvd won't be included? that would be a disappointment.

I really hope the commentary is included. It's already gonna be annoying having to pick up both the Synapse & Arrow Blu-rays to get all the extras. If I have to keep the Synapse DVD as well then Maniac Cop (which I only think is OK) will be the title I have the most copies of on my shelves.
I don't think it's been posted elsewhere, but here are the Arrow bonus features for comparison: - Reversible sleeve with original and newly commissioned artwork - Double-sided fold-out artwork poster - Collector’s booklet featuring brand new writing on the film by author Troy Howarth and The Original Maniac: An interview with William Lustig, adapted from Calum Waddell’s book Taboo Breakers SPECIAL FEATURES: - Brand new High Definition transfer of film film - Exclusive UK introduction to the film from star Tom Atkins - Doomed Detective: Tom Atkins on Maniac Cop - Lady of the Night: Laurene Landon remembers Maniac Cop - Scripting a new Slasher Super-Villain: Larry Cohen on Matt Cordell - Trailer |

I will probably pass on the Maniac Cop blu-ray for now, I already own the Synapse DVD. But I'm 100% in for Intruder and Thou Shalt Not Kill... Except!
I just received Frat House Massacre in the mail today! This one looks like a blast! "Cocaine-fueled sex, pounding disco music, unflinching carnage and rampant nudity... just another night at Delta Iota Epsilon Fraternity!" |

I'd bet it will be on there, and it was just overlooked in the news story.
I think it is a combo pack anyway, so I'd imagine the included DVD is identical to the one we already have. So if it is not on the blu, it will still be on the DVD. |
