Anybody Know Why The Cujo Special Edition Region 1 Dvd Was Cancelled?

Still wondering about this hopefully will be released soon? anyway i picked up the artisan dvd and i also have the republic vhs. anybody notice there is scenes that isn't on the dvd sex scene for example and panning shots and scenes on the dvd not on the vhs a shot of cujo underneath the house, scene in the kitchen about the commercial,a couple of panning shots! kinda strange considering that the dvd also has the republic logo as well. anyway here's hoping to a new dvd release.

The film was going to come out from Paramount last year with the other Stephen King SE's, but CUJO is part of the Republic catalog that they own due to having purchased it and the Spelling Catalog years ago. It has been under sublicense to Artisan Entertainment and then eventually Lionsgate once Artisan was folded into that company.

The catalog went back to Viacom a couple of years ago, but at the last minute, Lionsgate licensed the Republic catalog back from Paramount last year (sans IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE and much of the TV product)

CUJO went back over to Lionsgate...hence the cancellation of the Paramount DVD. It is coming back out though from Lionsgate at some point later this year.

yep i do hope cujo dvd is gonna be good in way hearing that now i am kinda glad i found out that the paramount dvd was released in region 4 austrailia etc... and the cover art looks just like the other paramount stephen king SE dvd's but the only extra was a commentary by director lewis teague looked for it on ebay and found region 4 dvd

so hopefully lionsgate will put some extras on a new dvd not just release the same artisan dvd with new cover art and lions gate logo

well www.dvdempire.com has listed a 9-25-07 release date for lionsgate dvd of cujo. let's hope there will be some extras on dvd like the full movie for instance the republic vhs and artisan dvd both have different scenes and missing scenes on each version.anyone know any info on this new dvd?

I'll get both...however, Cujo seems to play okay fullscreen making me sometimes wonder if it was shot with 4:3 ratio in mind?

What's the ratio (1.85 or 2.35) and which scenes are or aren't missing?
It's sounding tempting.

One scene I know of: Dee Wallace's character making love to her hubby's best friend was NOT in the theatrical/cable/Warner VHS versions. It was in the Republic tape, however. Great scene, actually.

Not sure about what and what not is missing but here's some info about the aspect ratio:

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=3231

... and yeah, LG sucks for releasing this in 4:3 again

1:1,85 was the ratio on the dvd but it looked very nice not cropped at the side , didn't cujo have a theatrical release , the earløier version I had seemed to be missing something on the sides .

the commentary menti0oned something about the bed scene but i can't remember what it was , can toss the disc in and check it out this weekend

Aspect ratio aside, the new artwork is badass...

Awesome.

Rhett, you know if they ever shot the ending used in the book? I'd kinda like to see

Spoiler:
Dee Wallace Stone and a little girl get ravaged into little tiny bits by a rabid st. bernard.

That'd be hilarious.

--Aspect ratio aside--

4:3 instead of 1.85:1...... can't put that aside.
