well, I guess Warner has nothing left in their vaults to release, since they're drumming up yet another multi-disc special edition of Blade Runner.

what's so special that they just HAD to create a completely new edition to celebrate the film's 30 anniversary? well........how about a photo gallery with over 1000 images!!! ALL IN HD!!!!!! holy fucking shit!!!! want more? wait, really, you want more? well, too bad, because that seems to be about it....at least in terms of digital extras. its going to be packaged in the much-loved "book" style a la Alien, Star Wars, etc. and its going to have a DIFFERENT spinner car model (because one just wasn't enough), and a DIFFERENT lenticular hologram image (once again, one just wasn't enough!!). I'm a little shocked they're not including a "different" origami unicorn as well!

ugh. this just strikes me as hilariously pointless. (pre order is "only" $59...not too shabby, when you consider you're basically only getting a photo gallery......)

It really doesn't surprise me at all. Warner are the kings of continually re-releasing everything.

At least they are adding something new, they're also kings of re-releasing things and not fixing them (i.e. the same lossy audio tracks)

I'm cool with them doing a re-packaging but it pisses me off that they added a photo gallery.

I will stick with my 25th Anniversary Briefcase on DVD, and the 5 Disc only on Blu-Ray. This sounds like not worth triple dipping on this just for a photo gallery. Sorry, Warner Bros. And Ridley Scott is wanting to do a sequel to Blade Runner, with Harrison Ford doing a cameo in it.

Yeah they did this with Deliverance too. Comes out in about a month. And Full Metal Jacket is getting another release as well, with rumors of Lolita getting a 50th anniversary as well. Casablanca was re-issued (although they DID do an all-new HD transfer), and The Wizard of Oz for some pointless reason is getting another restoration.

Unfortunately it's another one that's going to have the same lossy audio as the old release. They've done that with Unforgiven, Goodfellas, etc..

I can justify the double dip with Full Metal Jacket because of it's inclusion of the documentary "Boxes." I doubt I will ever need more than the initial 5 disc Collector's edition of Blade Runner.

Dear WB: could you stop re-releasing your heavy hitters & get to the lesser stuff like for example return of the living dead part 2 or Masters of the universe (just speaking for myself on that one), if you need some suggestions I have a wishlist about a mile long.
Thank you....

Surprisingly Masters of the Universe is hitting Blu Ray in a few months.
