Grindhouse Universe trailer compilation
FANGORIA:
Ban 1 Productions gave Fango the first look at cover art for GRINDHOUSE UNIVERSE, its latest DVD compendium of horror and cult film trailers, which will be available August 14. The company, which previously teamed with Synapse Films on the 42ND STREET FOREVER discs, has put together over two hours of coming attractions for this latest release, remastered from original 35mm materials and presented in anamorphic widescreen. Among the fright features represented are THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN, DR. BUTCHER M.D., THE GRIM REAPER, RITUALS, DOGS and THE PACK, BARRACUDA and KILLER FISH and EVIL IN THE DEEP, EMANUELLE AND THE LAST CANNIBALS, FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE SPACE MONSTER/CURSE OF THE VOODOO, THE CRIMSON CULT, THE FROZEN DEAD/IT, MACABRO, NIGHT AFTER NIGHT AFTER NIGHT and many others. There’ll also be audio commentary by cult film journalist David Hayes and vintage theatrical product ads. The limited-edition (1,000 units) DVD will be available for $19.99 from Ban 1’s website, Xploitedcinema.com, Diabolikdvd.com and others. —Michael Gingold |

Sounds good. I especially want to hear the commentary on this.

This one sounds pretty good. I loved the Something Weird sampler but was disappointed with the first 42nd St Forever disc... too many softcore films, not many horror films, and overall just not as entertaining as the SW sampler (at 3-4x the price!!)

I enjoy the softcore trailers, but I think this upcoming Grindhouse Universe dvd seems to have a nice variety of films. I agree, the Something Weird trailer collections are a blast!

Sounds great. I love both 42nd St. Forever discs. I wonder why they didn't just do another volume with Synapse?

Thanks for all the interest in our upcoming disc... a few points:
kyouki - If you are looking for XXX trailers, we have released Smut Palace Insanity our XXX disc. SWV's disc was great, but I believe was mostly a compilation of trailers and clips of stuff on their discs already, and not a stand alone release of "new" stuff. I got the disc at Borders when it was offered for free along with the purchase of a disc. They are able to offer that one cheaper (and free in some cases) as they have great distribution and tons of releases available. We on the other hand (along with other companies) do the discs as a hobby, and have to limit them at 1,000 copies and have no distribution, so that's why prices are just a little higher than a normal disc in the store. Our new disc will be 16x9 anamorphic so that will be a nice change from the original release we did. Last edited by Jeff Dolniak; 06-09-2007 at 12:14 AM. |
