Hell yeah it's required Bava viewing. It's not quite as important or innovative as his other Gialli, it's slightly more on the goofy side. But it's a lot of fun, and his style shines throughout. It's one of my favorite Bava films, actually.

I've been crossing my fingers that this will be available on Anchor Bay's Bava Boxset Volume 2 (if it ever comes out) along with Bay of Blood.

5 Dolls For An August Moon is a very underrated film. Mario Bava himself considered it among his least favorite, but it's actually a good mystery that will hold your interest. As expected, the cinematography from Bava is wonderful. The soundtrack is a quirky lounge music cocktail, very different than expected. Of course I am biased in that Edwige Fenech is my favorite Euro Horror actress.
If you dig her, I further recommend this movie.
