Damn, I could totally make that! I go to school at the University of Toronto, and Thursdays I finish class at 9:00 PM. The Bloor Cinema is just down the street from the UofT campus.

I saw a near-mint print at a theater showing last year. I never cared for the film on video...and it was a totally fresh experience seeing it at the theater. It plays much, MUCH better on the big screen. You're gonna love it.

Times like this I wish I wasn't banned from Canada.
I've only seen this on video and it's still among my alltime favorite movies, I can only imagine it on the big screen. Wago, have you seen the HD broadcast version of this? It should be somewhere on the internet still. After decades of FF vhs quality, it sure was/is great to see it WS and clean. |

I had no idea - I don't think I have HD access just yet. The film turned out much more cinematic than I ever could have thought. VHS and cable never did the film justice. It still holds up...more, in fact, since audiences are used the more wink-wink references. Back in the day, I didn't "get" it even though I was well into vintage horror films. Then again, I didn't "get" the humor of RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, either. The audiences I saw it with in '85 were shrieking and screaming...and not ONE laugh at the humorous parts. It was straight up horror to my eyes back then.

Though by no fault of Bloodman, every time I see this thread my brain reads it as, "Night of the Creeps out on DVD on 9/20!!!" and I get happy.. ever so briefly before it all falls apart.
![]() I hope you have a great time and be sure to tell us how it goes. Last edited by onebyone; 08-25-2007 at 10:23 PM. |

I wish I was still in TO for this... But no, leaving TO on Monday... Demons 2 with Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni in-person last night at The Royal was awesome. And Speak of the Dead with George A. Romero tomorrow should be amazing.

Not sure if I ever shared that story online. Here's the condensed version.
Random car at tunnel to get fucked with. Bag of sticks and seeds I thought was thrown out. Back room, strip search offered with exception of anal probe (declined by customs). Questions. 10 year old drunk driving conviction = "menace to society, not welcome". If id'd at border again (pre-9/11) arrest for trespassing. Oh yeah, send magistrate of Canada $150 to look at case, and maybe re-instate me to visit. With casinos in Detroit and no more underage girls in my life, no need to go back, until now.

Quite the story there. Sorry to hear that. Doesn't Canada suck?

I'm actually going to be reviewing Night of the Creeps for the site, based off the Monsters HD broadcast. Doing it mostly for fun, but to raise some awareness of the need for a DVD. No extras, so it won't be too difficult to crank out a review - hoping to do it tomorrow.
