Countless...you know a film is shit when you don't even like it when you're an early teenager completely obsessed with horror films. It makes Pinhead look like a joke by trying to make him into a new slasher superstar, and the new Cenobites are hilariously bad. The film is really more of a disgrace to the franchise IMO than the DTV flicks, which at least keep Pinhead in the role he's supposed to be.

1. Hellbound
2. Hellraiser
3. Hellseeker
4. Inferno
5. Deader
6. Bloodline
7. Hell on Earth
8. Hellworld

That being said, I enjoy the whole Hellraiser series. It's the only franchise in which I can say that.

Hellraiser
Hellraiser 2

Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth is only decent non-Barker sequel.

I enjoyed Hellraiser: Inferno, but I don't think about it as part of Hellraiser mythology. They put Pinhead for few last minutes as some idiotic explanation of everything what happened to main character before and I hate that - except this, it was decent flick.

Hellraiser: Bloodline was not good enough for me, but at least it kept with mythology.

And other sequels? Total shit. Curses on Dimension Films (or whoever owns the franchise now), they destroyed anything that Barker created with their stupid sequels. I hope they will end in hell and their pain will be legendary even there.

Holy Moly, I didn't even know there were that many Hellraiser films?!

I won't vote, as I have only seen the first two, but I love what I have seen up to this point at least.

Possible spoilers:
I thought the film portrayed the Pinhead character in an interesting light. Where the character was refined and controlled in the first two films, the third shows Pinhead stripped of his humanity and driven solely by his demonic nature. Instead of the cold, impartial arbiter of whatever evil game the box is supposed to represent, we have the murderer and sadist that is left behind when Pinhead's "soul" is ripped away. Perhaps I'm putting too much thought into what doesn't seem to be a very intelligent movie in the first place...

The new cenobites are beyond stupid, though.

Post The viewer wept.

1. Hellraiser

2. Hellbound: Hellraiser II

3. Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth- No love for CD Head? This is a fun sequel even though Pinhead's reduced to a campy Freddy wannabe. His backstory is a nice touch.

4. Hellraiser: Bloodlines- This sequel is a mess. The original director left(?) and Dimension got the asshat responsible for Halloween 6 & Phantoms to salvage anything worthwhile. Some of the new cenobites are cool, but that's very faint praise.

5. Hellraiser: Hellseeker

6. Hellraiser: Inferno- A poor man's Bad Lieutenant mixed with the Hellraiser mythos. This sequel was very laughable. Wasn't there a scene with kickboxing demons?

7. Hellraiser: Hellworld- I fell asleep on this one. I remember the kids going to Lance "I'll do anything for a paycheck." Henriksen's mansion, but that's about it.

Never saw Deader. Lucky for me!

Yep. I never even liked the third one--hated the whole concept of the Cenobites being in our world--that removed everything that made the first two films great.

I've seen one of the later installments, and don't remember which one or anything else about it other than that it sucked. Never bothered with any others.

I've been watching the post-Hellbound sequels to Hellraiser for the past few days. Hellraiser 3 was the only one I'd seen before and I was quite surprised to discover it was even worse than I had remembered. Really awful. Completely inept filmmaking. I was very surprised with Bloodline, which was actually pretty good and suspenseful at times. I'd like to see the original cut. And even though it was cheesy, I did like that the film was set in the past, present and future. Nice touch.

After that, things get progressively worse. In fact, I bet none of the subsequent sequels (except for Hellseeker) were written as Hellraiser movies, rather that they were existing scripts that were rewritten to incorporate Hellraiser motifs. That goes especially to Hellworld, which is just a completely different movie with Pinhead making a cameo appearance.

I thought Inferno was ok, nothing special. Hellseeker was worse, but still watchable. Deader was just a complete waste of time and unutterably boring. I am only rating Hellraiser 3 higher because it was more "fun" (that's not really the right word, though ...), but those two are definitely the nadirs of the series. Because of how awful Deader was, I almost gave up on Hellworld before I even started watching it, and for the first 20 minutes or so, I thought it was going to suck even harder than Deader. I mean, teenagers? Self-referential post-modern dialogue? Rick Bota directing again?

Thankfully I kept watching, only because I wanted to see what the hell Lance Henriksen was doing in the film, and I ended up liking it quite a lot. I mean, if you take all the Pinhead/Cenobite stuff out, this is quite an enjoyable little slasher movie. It's not without flaws and I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone, but it's fun nevertheless. And it's got some cool deaths and bloodspurts.

So I would rank the franchise as follows:

Hellraiser
Hellbound
Bloodline
Hellworld
Inferno
Hellseeker
Hell on Earth
Deader

I just watched the OG Hellraiser series (1-8, with Doug Bradley as Pinhead) for the first time. I had seen I & II about a decade ago when I first was getting into DVDs, but didn't like them enough to continue the series. Overall I'd say that this series isn't as bad as I'd been led to believe based on reviews. Although the first is the only one that I'd consider a really good movie (I enjoyed it much more this time than I did on first viewing), the majority of the sequels are decent. I'd been hearing for years about how everything after 2 was a major turd and I was surprised to find myself being entertained by most of them and not hating any except for Hellworld. I still enjoy the classic 3 80s franchises more (Friday, Nightmare, Halloween), but this series can stand a little below them and not have to hang out with the Amityville and Howling series at the bottom of the barrel.

My ranking of the franchise would go:
1. Hellraiser
2. Hellbound: Hellraiser II
3. Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth
4. Hellraiser: Hellseeker
5. Hellraiser: Inferno
6. Hellraiser: Deader
7. Hellraiser: Bloodline
8. Hellraiser: Hellworld

These I like:

Hellraiser
Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth
Hellbound: Hellraiser II
Hellraiser: Inferno

These I don't:

Hellraiser: Deader
Hellraiser: Hellseeker
Hellraiser: Hellworld
Hellraiser: Bloodline
Hellraiser: Revelations

Am I the only one who's seen Revelations? I envy all of you. It's horrible.

Well Cooper, most of these posts were made BEFORE Revelations.

I've only seen 5 of them, and I'd rate them as so:

1. Hellraiser - love
2. Hellbound: Hellraiser II - love
3. Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth - entertaining
4. Hellraiser IV: Bloodline - dumb, but some good scenes
5. Hellraiser VI: Hellseeker - fucking hated it; awful

I think that I am going to watch Inferno now. Just because I should be finishing this series.

There are nine Hellraiser films? OMG. I was tapped out after the first, I don't think I could stomach another eight...
