Is Amazon Code Red's preferred retailer? I usually order from Deepdiscount and I want to try Diabolik. From the sounds of past posts it seems sales from Amazon or maybe even Best Buy are looked to when they tell us how certain titles are selling (or not).

DeepDiscount used to carry the Code Red titles, I'm not sure why they stopped. They had about everything up until Hot Moves.

I know because I got most of mine from DeepDiscount, they used to have the best prices on them. I wish they would start carrying these again.

This might be why I own almost every Code Red title up until Hot Moves. The only one I own after that is Trapped.

I'd pick up many more CR titles if the price was more in the $15 range and even lower than that for the featureless discs.
Agreed, especially for us Canadians as we have to add the duty and shipping charges to the cost. And Amazon.ca is too expensive and not very reliable with their titles.

I'm pretty sure they explained why they have to charge so much and even than they still don't make enough money off them, but I wonder if they priced them at like $12 (Which is really what they should be) that they might make more money in the end. I would probably pick them all up for that price! $20 for some of these is just way too much though, especially when you can't even find a trailer for most of them to see if they are any good.

I'll be buying Madman as I have been wanting for that one for a while now, but unfortunately I probably won't grab the rest unless I find a good deal on them. Too many movies I want/ need to buy right now and when I can find extra feature stacked DVDs for $6 and loaded Blu's for $18, $20 seems like a lot for a barebones menu lacking DVD.

I remember getting Doom Asylum for $6 a year or two ago, and Final Exam for like $10. It's too bad those days are over as I really want Messiah of Evil, Primal Rage, and Sole Survivor, Trapped, and The Strangeness.

Yep, I pre-ordered that on Amazon when it first showed up for $17.49. These always go up in price later on, so it's best to grab them early.

If you buy Code Red releases from DVD Pacific, they're usually pretty cheap. Under $15 it seems. Only problem is that they don't put up preorders as early as amazon. Horror High is $13.74 at DVD Pacific.

Edit: most of those barebones DVDs listed above seem to be in the price range of $12-$14 at amazon. Some other Code Reds I checked were in the same price range as well. I guess they only charge $20 for the special edition, extras packed, releases.

I got most of my Code Red discs through DeepDiscount and they were about $6-$8 each. Paying more than double that for discs with no bonus features is REALLY hard to stomach right now.

That said, I'm looking forward to grabbing Madman, Horror High and Slithis in the near future when money isn't such an issue.

I just checked Amazon and both Slithis and Primal Rage are over $20 and The Dead Are Alive is $19.50. All of these are barebones releases.

I ordered "Primal Rage" from Axelmusic before the release date. It changed to "backordered with supplier" on release date and it still has not shipped yet (16 days now).
The same thing happened with the last 3 Code Red titles I tried to order from Axelmusic (I finally cancelled them and ordered from DVD Pacific). Ordering Code Red titles is always annoying. It does not surprise me that Mr. Norton does not make any money.

Exactly. I haven't bought a Code Red release in a long time because of these prices. Eventually I'll cave in and get them from DVD Pacific, but those prices are rough.

That?s strange. I ordered mine from Axel Music two weeks before the release and was shipped 3 days later. I received Primal Rage 3 days before the official release.

I ordered mine 4 days before the release. I got notified by Axelmusic yesterday that it has been shipped by now.
How come that Code Red titles are usually "on backorder" on release date if - according to Mr. Norton - only a few people buy these titles? Maybe they only order a few or just the number of preorders. Who knows...
