That, plus:

Children of the Living Dead
Day of the Dead remake
Return of the Living Dead 4 and 5
Day of the Dead 2: Contagium
Kiss Daddy Goodbye

..plus there's a shitload of them on Netflix right now that I can't even get 10 minutes into. Zombie Night? Totally atrocious.

Please don't insult the original trilogy like that.

Poor use of the found footage concept, terrible characters and acting, horrid CG work, idiotic narration etc.

Diary is a piece of shit.

It has the absolute worst excuses for pointless other sources of the "found footage" (look! we're editing in footage from the security camera outside...just so you can see that a truck pulled up!). So lazy and moronic. SURVIVAL was a fucking masterpiece after that turd.

Technically it isn't a "found footage" film. It's a mock student made documentary. Nobody "found" it, the fictitious director put it online for the whole world to see. She didn't die only to have the footage edited by an unrelated third party post mortem. She had the footage all along. Subtle difference, I know, but it's there nonetheless.

I think everybody knows that I'm not a fan of these kinds of films, but even overlooking that aspect it's just not a good movie. If you don't have great camerawork then you need to rely upon a good story to tell (which it didn't have), good acting (nope) or even great music (certainly wasn't memorable). I liked the bit with the Amish guy, but that's all. Nice try, but it was nothing more than an experiment by George that ultimately failed.

Is this unpopular or not? :

Larry Cohen's A Return to Salem's Lot is a huge improvement over the original.

Meanwhile, the original is a perfect 3-part progression. Hour 1 = Good. Hour 2 = Not good, not bad. Hour 3 = Make it stop. Please.

I actually like Diary more than Land and Survival.

But.... with that being said it is a fucking mess. Plot holes that you could drive a truck through and acting worse than student films I used to be involved in. Yet it's still more entertaining and worthwhile than those others. Kinda shows how low my opinion of those movies are.

I liked Diary of the Dead OK, better than Survival by a mile. That said, they are all a long fall from my love of the original three.
