The strange thing is,there's not even an Italian DVD of this. This might indicate that the rights aren't even in Italy??

Thanks for the heads-up. I've been living back in Boston for a year now, but still forget to check for anything interesting playing at the Brattle or the Coolidge. I'll definitely check this out.

Dammit, I'd been looking forward to seeing this in the theater for weeks, but unfortunately I'm sick as a dog today. I'm going to split from work early and just go home and lay down. Too bad tonight is the only night it's playing.....

It's listed as "announced" ! (actually NOT announced so it doesn't mean much). Nothing more yet.
Probably one of those bootleg companies. We'll see.

One word: Camera Obscura (Okay, that's two, but you get the idea )

Wouldn't it be great if a company like CO released Death Laid an Egg? They already released some very nice Italian films which were thought to be lost forever. DlaE is one of them!
Perhaps it's no classic Giallo to some, but it is to me, and it's way better than the other Trintignant/ Aulin Giallo "Deadly Sweet" which is visually intriguing and I like the nods to Antonioni, but nothing really happens until the last minutes.

Oh, did I say Death Laid an Egg yet? What a fine Giallo it is! It's a bit weird, but hey I like it! The Giulio Questi movie that is... Who's "Django Kill..." was also a very fine Spaghetti Western, just like his Giallo, whatsit...

Holy fuck! Look here :

Now, wouldn't it be kinda cool if we could have some kind ENGLISH on this?!

Still we're getting very, very close!!! I just feel there's someone out there planning an English friendly DVD right now!

There's still quite a few labels out there that could do this Giallo justice.

Hell, I'm all excited now

Rumour has it that when the film was shown in UK cinemas, with Italian audio and English subtitles, the running time was 105 minutes. The running time of this DVD is 85 minutes. As far as I am aware, the longest version of the film appeared on German VHS. I have a fan DVD of the film that contains extra footage taken from this German VHS as extras. Sadly they are German audio only. The search for a complete release of Death Laid an Egg continues
And I don't think the new DVD looks that great actually. I doubt it's from a print. Looks like VHS to me. IIRC the King DVD, despite being nonanamorphic, looked way better:

The search for the "Holy Grail" continues
And yes, this isn't the best Giallo out there, probablynot even top-tier, but I just luurve this one (as if you hadn't noticed )

I'm still kicking myself in the ass for missing this one when it was screened here in Cambridge back in '08!

Shameless released Four Flies. Why not release Death Laid an Egg?
And if anyone wonders, it's way better than that other Trintignant / Aulin vehicle "Deadly Sweet", which borrows from Antonioni and

Brass edits the film with a jackhammer, occasionally switching from color to black-and-white without apparent motive, and the whole thing looks more like a bad acid trip than the sort of Nouvelle Vague thriller for which he was obviously striving, wasting some fairly interesting cinematography by Silvano Tranquilli

I have an original one-sheet of this under the title "Plucked". Have not seen the film yet though of course. Like Crystal, patiently waiting.

Oh, Death Laid an Egg! Where are you?
Luckily for us there are still some tiny labels releasing the odd Italian gem every now and then.
Well then, GET ON WITH IT!
