Absurd (the sequel/prequel to Anthropophagus)

I haven't actually seen this film but I have seen Anthropophagus. As far as I know Absurd hasn't had a legit release which is why I've made a petition to hopefully get it one.

Here's the link to the petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/he774a77/petition.html

Thanks to those who sign

My god! I may actually get to see this film after all. I hope they change the cover and I'm interested to see if it's uncut or not. Thanks a lot for the link.

a cover can be fixed by oneself , just an uncut film in better quality than I already have and I would love it

OMG it's FINALLY happening!!! I am foaming at the mouth for this as my uncut vhs rip is... well just that. A vhs rip of pretty lousy quality.

Yeah, mentioned this earlier in the MYA thread.
I even signed the petition. Never seen the film.

They used the French title which could indicate they only had access to a French copy. Was the French version cut?

Once Again. The Movie "Rosso Sangue" aka "Absurd" etc. has nothing to do with "Antropophagus".
In the beginning Joe D' Amato planned a sequel to "Antropophagus" and hand a treatment of the script to his friend and Partner Luigi Montefiori (George Eastman).
But due this time Montefiori was busy with another film and on the other hand, he was not interessted in it because he didn`t like the original "Antropophagus" Film. So Massaccesi gave the treatment to another writer, but he failed. So the screenplay went back to Montefiori and he completley rewrote it for free, with the option that he want to play the lead character.
Through all over the world the movie "Rosso Sangue" was advertised as "Antropophagus 2" but only because the original one was, instead of italy, an international success. As many of you know, D' Amato was only interessted in making money. He had never any artistic ambitions in his whole career.
For the Fans:
"Rosso Sangue" was filmed in two weeks in May 1981 in the city of Fiano Romano 44 kilometres in the north of Rome.

greetings from germany and sorry for my bad english
Udo

I made that petition and I haven't seen the film. So this is pretty cool to hear it's coming out.

So they can't use the title Absurd because it's own by MGM, is that right?

Well he was calling it a prequel in the documentary that was on the Anthropophagus disc from Shriek Show.

Happy to see this one hit DVD. Not a huge fan of "Anthro" but I liked this one, even though it is a rip-off of Halloween II plot-wise.

I know that, but no matter if it was concieved as prequel or sequel, that doesn' t change the facts about the little story i told you

I know. Its only relation to Anthro is that he said it was a prequel. As a film it has no connection.

There's an Anthropophagus remake BTW. It's German and from what I've seen it looks pretty cheep. I wouldn't mind seeing a new remake to the film.
