Has he gone half blind with age and donīt see the horrible noise, or maybe he just doesnīt care, since people still buy these mediocre discs?
Fully agree. Yes, they're sometimes an improvement over older discs, but I just can't get pass the DNR look. Someone SHOULD tell Lustig to change labs.

Someday I will fly to Italy, bring an axe, and smash that old primitive CRT scanner to pieces
Yea, the transfer on Alien 2 was stunning. For such an unknown film it really looks near perfect thanks to its amazing transfer. Shame Blue Underground aren't putting out a lot of transfers this good.

The real shame is that we lost Midnight Legacy. Now THERE was a company completely dedicated to top quality, regardless of how bottom-of-the-barrel the film was (Too bad they never got past their debut release). Blue Underground is just coasting by with reissues of the same old stuff, now apparently not caring too much about picture quality. They have yet to announce or release a film I'm remotely interested in.

Yeah, I hope Midnight Legacy gives this a second shot in a near future.

Blue-Underground is just a shadow of itīs former self these days. Most of the greats in their catalog wonīt be avalible on BD cause they sold badly. But I kinda doubt "Baby Yaga" and "I Strip Nude..." outsold "Nightmare City".

Well at least we have Synapse. They still release interesting stuff and in amazing quality.

"Tomas Milian (TRAFFIC, RUN MAN RUN) stars as a half-breed bandit double-crossed and left for dead who rises from the grave to seek his revenge. But when his quest leads to a bizarre town called ‘The Unhappy Place,’ he is plunged into an odyssey of gruesome torture, graphic violence and relentless sexual depravity. This is the landmark movie that fans and critics still consider to be the strangest – and most controversial – ‘Spaghetti Western’ ever made. This is DJANGO KILL!

Director Giulio Questi (DEATH LAID AN EGG) and Co-Writer/Editor Franco Arcalli (co-writer of ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA and LAST TANGO IN PARIS) shocked the world with this hallucinatory tale of greed, corruption, perversion and beyond. Also known as SE SEI VIVO SPARA (IF YOU LIVE, SHOOT!), this definitive presentation of DJANGO KILL! has been created from the original Italian negative with all its infamous scenes of savagery and slaughter now fully restored in stunning High Definition!

I know they aren't blu ray releases, but since this seems to be the place for all discussion surrounding blue underground, i thought i'd mention them here. seems they're repackaging several of their older releases into "midnight movies" collections. looks like there are 7 packages available so far. they are

1 - A Blade in the Dark/Macabre/Shock
2 - Companeros/Four of the Apocalypse/Run Man Run
3 - The Big Racket/The Heroin Busters/Street Law
4 - The Bloodstained Shadow/Short Night of Glass Dolls/Who Saw Her Die?
5 - Contamination/The Shape of Things to Come
6 - Cannonball/Fast Company
7 - Grand Slam/Revolver

for whatever reason, the titles i already own are all collected together. so numbers 2, 3, 5, and 7 are all packages i plan on picking up. all those titles in the other packages, i already have. i love it when companies do this, it makes picking some of these titles a lot more affordable.

Just a friendly heads up regarding these releases. I ordered volumes 2 and 3, and they arrived today. they come in a very flimsy case, with one disc on the left side (when opened), and two discs overlapping on the right side. The cases are unfortunately not very good, and so when I received mine, two of the 3 discs in one case were loose and quite scuffed, and one in the other case was as well. I don't think it will affect playback, as they seem to be superficial scratches, but still, people might want to consider this when deciding to order these or not.

Also, the banner on the blue underground website says that these are "available for a very limited time only", so take that for whatever its worth...

They vanished after Alien 2. It seems they lost too much money with that release and couldn't afford to keep going.

I was doing some searching on amazon when I noticed BU is re-releasing Zombie on blu-ray as a one disc version, wonder if this means the two disc is going oop?

Night Train Murders Blu-Ray is currently $10.49 on Amazon. Definite lowest I've ever seen it.
