Just Got Kidnapped/Rabid Dogs and The Case of the Bloody Iris
I was in a Best Buy today in a town I don't visit often and they actually had a decent Euro selection...for once! I got the Anchor Bay Kidnapped/Rabid Dogs that is packaged in the sleeve as one of their "Cult Favorites" (The Wicker Man has also received this treatment). I watched Rabid Dogs and it's now my favorite Bava. I watched some of the Lucas commentary but I got bored (he seems more tired than usual).
I'll try to watch The Case of the Bloody Iris tonight because I love Edwige Fenech. This is the new Blue Underground release. It came with an extensive BU "Winter 2008" catalog and I was going through, checking off all the films I have, and I DO have a bunch of them--but mostly on older Anchor Bay releases. Halfway through I thought, "Geez, BU is just re-releasing Anchor Bay's stuff from the late 1990s and early 2000s." Last edited by Coverdale; 03-23-2008 at 01:39 AM. Reason: left out the words BU |

Rabid Dogs is indeed awesome, but The Case of The Bloody Iris was just an average giallo. Not as good as prime Argento/Fulci/Bava/Martino gialli, but better than stuff like Black Belly of the Tarantula. Still, glad to have it in the collection I guess.

Rabid Dogs all the way, Kidnapped has none of the edge, it's a completely different experience. I've never really cared for Iris much, other than a few set pieces and a beautiful Fenech. Still, if I need to see her in a giallo, it has to be a Martino.

I've had Kidnapped/Rabid Dogs sitting on my shelf for months. I think I need to watch it soon after reading this thread.

Yeah, that's the one I picked up. Under the slipcase is the "regular" black, red cover with the stiletto. The Wicker Man is also part of this series, along with one or two others that have been released and re-released to death by AB. I'm sure Army of Darkness got this treatment too. If not I'm disappointed in them.
