Just picked up SEED as well as POSTAL. An Uwe Boll double feature is in my future! Speaking of SEED, it too comes with a video game! lol This is becoming a standard for Uwe Boll films. The game is "Advert Rising", not sure if it even has anything to do with the movie.

And speaking of Boll, anyone pick up the "funny version" of House of the Dead that came out this week as well? When I was at Walmart, I didn't see it (oh how I was wanting a triple Boll feature!).

I watched SEED last night. It's a bit different than Boll's other films. It still feels like a Boll film, no doubt about it. It's quite mean spirited though. The scene where Seed hammers a woman to death in a single shot (no alternate camera angles) was quite disturbing and effective. I did not like the peta footage at the beginning of the film. That should have been left off.

Seriously, what's with the "it's only $15 bucks" line of thinking? At the very least you should be getting three Uwe movies at that price. You should consider your money more valuable than that.

In other news, Amazon shipped me the Blu-ray of Postal for $17.

Well not "free free" then, 'cause you had to trade in and could have gotten anything else up to a value of $30. That was bartering.

Not sure it's a good idea to take an Uwe movie even for free.

But then this is coming from someone who spent $17 of real money on Postal.

Not even for free.

It really is a typical Boll. The main difference is that here he unleashes his impotent fury in all of its silliness. It's presumably a projection of what he would like to do to critics if he was Max Seed (and I don't mean "taking a ride on a tram in a scarecrow mask" - which Seed, in fact, does).

But poor Uwe cannot even do torture porn properly. That hammer scene goes beyond the ridiculous - the woman in question sits throughout the "torture" looking as bored as a viewer of a Boll movie, delivering all the reaction and emotion of a porn starlet trying to say scripted dialogue. Yes, Uwe manages to rank lower than Eli Roth and Rob "Zombie".

There's, by the way, more of that, including a goofy ending which screams: "Be angry at me! Look at me, I'm having a scene of torture, death and child abuse! Won't you protest against this film now? Come on, be horrified! Try to have it banned! Do SOMETHING, just PLEASE NOTICE MY OUTRAGEOUSNESS!", and which can only provoke a bored yawn.

I picked up both this and Postal via ebay. As of now, only Seed has arrived. I have to admit I am definitely looking forward to seeing both of them, though. I also have Bloodrayne 2 rented and will probably be picking up the Jason Statham Boll Dungeon Siege movie on my next trip to the video store. Hell, I am even considering going to Walmart to pick up the Alone In The Dark SE for $7.50. Somebody please help me, I am becoming a Uwe addict!!!

I broke down and finally blind bought this and just got done watching it.
WOW, I can't believe this was a Boll flick, if I hadn't have known I never would've guessed. A few semi-silly scenes aside, this was a great movie. Knowing what Boll has done before makes it a break-through just short of a masterpiece. If only it didn't have that PETA footage at the beginning...

Is Uwe becoming a real filmmaker in front of my eyes? It feels like it, and I don't know whether to be happy or sad. I don't forsee any more House's of the Dead, but I really dug this as well. I still need to see Dungeon Siege (pg-13?!?) and Postal (intentional comedy?!?) but have stayed away due to things mentioned.

UWE! UWE! UWE!

I agree. I thought the "house searching" scene was great. It really felt like you were there right with the characters. Probably one of the better filmed "searching in the dark" scenes I have seen. No music, only light came from the actors flashlights. Very well filmed.

Did you listen to the commentary by Boll? I love how he took shots at Hostel & Saw II. Said Saw I was great but Saw II was a piece of ****. But gave props to Saw III. Said Hostel was nothing more than American Pie in Europe. And wasn't scary at all.

Postal is really wild. And In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale was probably one of the best LOTR "rip offs" out there. If there weren't the LOTR films this would be a hit. Done quite well. Aside from a couple of actors who were not exactly right for their roles, it was a hell of a movie. I swear you would never believe Boll directed it. You will be saying this is from the same guy who brought us Alone in The Dark?

Also you must try Heart of America. Another film that would have you second guessing Boll.

On 2 more new upcoming Boll films:

I read a review out there somewhere where they said Far Cry was his best video game adaption. And it kicked ass like the action movies from the 80's

I fucking loved this movie! Couldn't believe how entertained I was. It didn't feel like torture porn to me. JOY RIDE 2 was more in that vein. That single shot one angle scene was terrific. That's an example of clever use of CGI, if you ask me. This film had tension, and a raw power. I enjoyed POSTAL, too. I'm sorry I rented both of these...they are worth owning and I'm putting them both in my wish list because I would easily watch them again.

Phew! Glad, I'm not the only one who liked it. I'd forgotten about the positive buzz on here. Was watching a vlog review on YouTube that recommended it, and then gave it a whirl.

You know, I actually like Boll. But this... I don't know, I didn't like it. It's definitely quite the nihilistic little film, though.
