Toooooooo many good choices. I went with Dawn of the Dead but man, so many other good ones. Evil Dead, Madman, The Burning, and so on.

I vote for Other(s), because I actually owned a few HBO horror Videos. Among them, if you count Serial Mom as horror, that's my favorite. But I also owned Tales from the Hood.

On that list, though, I couldn't vote for Evil Dead- though I personally think it's the best on the list- because Anchor Bay also put it out in clamshell. I'll vote for that when we're talking about Anchor Bay or... what's their other VHS kind of company... Starmaker.

Dawn of the Dead. The Thorn EMI VHS was the first version of it I ever owned.

This one's very tough! I would have to go with Dawn '78. It was the very first video that we rented for our big honkin' VCR. That movie blew the doors of horror open for me. I also have fond memories of XTRO and ROTLD on video.

Well, somehow I fucked up my vote. Meant to vote for The Hitcher.

Anyway, it was really tough to call between that and Dawn of the Dead, but I owned The Hitcher for so long on VHS and always wanted to show people that film.

My accidental vote went to Near Dark, which I also like.

I picked Return of the Living Dead. Brings back good memories of renting stuff in the mid to late 80s. Dawn of the Dead and Deep Red are technically "better" films but Return will always hold a special place in my heart.

Awesome list! I rented Dawn of the Dead the most back in the vhs days. Return of the Living Dead would be a close second. Always loved the bleak Vincent Prive film Witchfinder General. Scars of Dracula isn't the best or worst Dracula picture from Hammer, but it was the first I rented.
