And the next remake to be bastardized .....

Mother's Day. For crying out loud.

Brett Ratner Producing Mother's Day Remake

Our favorite Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand director Brett Ratner is behind the remake of an obscure 1980 horror film called Mother's Day directed by Charles Kaufman, according to Shock Till You Drop. Thankfully, Ratner isn't directing the film. Instead, Darren Lynn Bousman (Repo! The Genetic Opera, Saw II-IV) seems to be up for the role, though no paperwork has actually been signed. As for Ratner, he'll be involved in purely a producing capacity as apparently he's quite a fan of the original film. For the script, that rests with Franck Khalfoun of P2; that's not exactly encouraging, as P2 was a mess and Mother's Day doesn't seem any better. I know we're all tired of remakes, but bear with me on this one.

There's tons more links if you just do a search for it.

Don't complain! This means we'll finally get it on DVD, and probably a good one.

But I already have the Troma release!

Oh, and I should have titled the thread differently looking back. The original is being bastardized, not the remake. Dumb me.

I only wish Ratner was directing, as that would be the remakes only chance of being worse than the original.

Shitty news. Mother's Day is a great slasher, and I don't think the remake will ever be as sleazy or cheesy as it is going to need to be.

I already have the original on Troma dvd. This is a movie that does NOT to be remade. Whoever thinks this remake is a good idea should be seriously shot!!

I haven't seen the original, but this thread has made me aware of it, perhaps that's what some remakes are for, to make people aware of the original lol

Look forward to watching the original when it's on dvd lol
Bless Rather

The guy produced Prison Break didn't he, he's not all bad.

Doesn't hurt my feelings. From what I've seen of this movie... it's bad. Real bad. Another Last House on the Left kind of rip-off.
