Basketcase is good fun. You'll dig it. I didn't like Henry but everyone else does, so whatever; I probably need to watch it again.

House With the Laughing Windows is pretty fucking great. Slow moving, yeah, but with loads of tension, and nice cinematography.

The Willies - I love this movie, it's basically a mean-spirited Horror movie for kids but it's pretty great.
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer - Great flick about Henry Lee Lucas, not the easiest movie to watch though Basketcase - Classic, I'm sure others will tell you how great it is. Eaten Alive - If this is the Tobe Hooper one, I actually like it more than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Magic - Not that good. Last man on Earth/ Panic in the Year Zero - Both are solid B movies, I'd recommend both. |

Basket Case, Don't Answer the Phone and Eaten Alive are definites.
I dunno about the Willies - I almost grabbed that too, but all the reviews I read seem like it's too young kid oriented. Plus those DVD's being sold of it are bootlegs and bad ones at that (hence the $3.99 price) Magic is alright, kinda creepy. Hatchet for a Honeymoon is entertaining if you like giallo.

Which CAMPFIRE TALES are you asking about, the '97 or the '91 ?
MAGIC is a mood piece, slow but kinda creepy.Good score, nice cast.If you're looking for hardcore shocks, this won't be your ticket. TRILOGY OF TERROR is a good showcase if you like Karen Black. The first two segments are decent, the last part is something of a classic. THE LAST MAN ON EARTH-Is an underrated version of I AM LEGEND.If you can handle the dubbing (it's looped) you might enjoy the creepy atmosphere,it's look influenced NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.Solid low budgeter. I think Henry is overrated, but worth picking up.
Magic is a masterpiece within the evil doll subgenre. Them (Ils) is very suspensful. A lot like the recent The Strangers, but even better. |

I'll only comment on the films I've seen, obviously.
The Willies - fun and campy PG-13 version of Tales from the Crypt. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer - chilling and expertly realized horror film Basket Case - one of my all time favorites, a bonafide cult classic Last man On Earth - excellent post-apocalyptic film and the best film version of I Am Legend

The Willies-thought it was very good and worthwhile.
Campfire Tales-ditto. Don't Answer the Phone-have not seen. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer-awesome film, very gritty and disturbing. Basketcase-cult classic, once a favorite of mine. Them (aka. Ils - 2008)-just ok for me. House With the Laughing Windows-not seen. Eaten Alive-it's average, loved the atmosphere more than the execution. Magic-good psychological horror. Hatchet for the Honeymoon (Any chance Anchor Bay will release this in a third set?)-not seen. Trilogy of Terror-not seen. Last man on Earth/ Panic in the Year Zero-not seen. |

The Willies -- always enjoyed this one. great fun!
Campfire Tales -- same, and loved the ending. Don't Answer the Phone -- superb sleaze! Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer -- a classic of course, and I actually love the sequel also. Basketcase -- weirdness personified! Them (aka. Ils - 2008) -- vastly overrated, worth a rental, and that's all. House With the Laughing Windows -- have this one on order right now but have enver seen. Eaten Alive -- strange sleaze with a grungy atmosphere to it. Magic -- superb psychological ventrioquism! Hatchet for the Honeymoon (Any chance Anchor Bay will release this in a third set?)-not seen. Trilogy of Terror -- classic anthology, Karen Black's multiple performance is award-worthy. Last man on Earth/ Panic in the Year Zero -- two excellent B&W post-apocalyptic flicks.

The Willies - One of my favorite fliks. Great kids film with a fun atmosphere. I have it on VHS, picked it up from my local rental place when they went out of business, watch it often.
Campfire Tales - Similar to The Willies, only for the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" crowd. Not one of my favorites. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer : Classic. It's the "Taxi Driver" of serial killer fliks. Great vibe and atmosphere Basketcase : Complete fun. Belial is the shit Eaten Alive : If it's the Tobe Hooper one with the alligator, I'd pass, though Robert Englund's fun in it. Trilogy of Terror : Great memories attached to this one. Tons of fun and monsters Last man on Earth/ Panic in the Year Zero : Love the former, never saw the latter. I probably have more copies of the Last Man on Earth than ANY other film I own.

Campfire Tales - if it's the 1996 version, I say rent it first. I really liked it when I saw it. But I only saw it once and that was many years ago. It is basically well-made, very suspenseful, and pretty stylish.
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer - very quiet, very talky. Be prepared for that. But it's also pretty damn good. Basket Case - absolutely pick this one up! I didn't like the ending at all, but the whole thing is interesting and strange and very satisfying. Haven't seen any of the others, unfortunately.
