Most Disturbing Song?

Last night, upon watching The Hills Have Eyes (Alexandre Aja remake) I was amused by the song playing during the title sequence. It was an old western, "More and More" by Webb Pierce. It had this eerie quality that made the montage of nuclear explosions and deformed mutants that little bit more disturbing.

As an avid horror fan, I understand the importance of the soundtrack to establishing tension in a movie. I was wondering what is the most disturbing song or theme from a horror movie.

Death Game (1977)

The song "Good Old Dad" during the opening montage showing kid's drawings. I didn't think much of the song when I first watched the movie, but afterwards all made sense. Disturbing stuff

Probably not the most disturbing use of music ever, but the use of music in The Strangers really worked to make the movie scarier. Sprout and the Bean by Joanna Newsom and My First Lover by Gillian Welch give me the chills each time they shuffle into my ipod.

After watching the X-Files episode "Home", I can't help being creeped out by Johnny Mathis' "Wonderful! Wonderful!"

Not really a horror movie theme, but this one fills me with dread everytime I hear it - "The Morning After" from The Poseidon Adventure, by Maureen McGovern.

In a film? Hmm... I'll have to concur with Mortis about the Happy Birthday to Me theme song. That really creeped me out when I was younger.

Not really a "song" per se, but the distorted guitar piece that played during the more intense moments of The Entity also gave me shivers.

Good call. That's the only music that has a legitimate case for being scarier than Jaws or Halloween.

The main Suspiria theme where the chorus of voices whisper 'witch' towards the end of the song makes the hair on my arms stand up every time! If you can find the L.E. 3 disc set by Anchor Bay it has the soundtrack cd as the 3rd disc...REALLY scary music...That disc gets played on high volume through a pair of JBL 3-way speakers cranked up loud on Halloween night at my house...that music ALWAYS makes even the most experienced trick or treater think twice before coming up the driveway...haha!

I guess Cannibal Corpse's "Hammer Smashed Face" in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is the most disturbing song in a soundtrack that I know of.

The score from Suspira is probably the most memorable, anything goblin scored kicks ass. The opening theme to Alien is pretty spooky, very subtle yet effective.
