Got the full 10 epsidoe run of Perversion of Science off a torrent site, freshly burned to dvdr. I recall the series now that I watched them, big time fun and in need of a real dvd set. It's literally a sci-fi "Tales from the Crypt", from HBO, same crew, based on the same published works, and lots of early appearences by semi-big stars.
The one with Jason Lee and Jamie Kennedy just fucking killed me! Another one is directed by Tobe Hooper, worth a look if you can find it (couchughhmyspleencough). Now I need to find those missing 2 minutes from episode 4, with Jeff Combs and Ron Perlman. Looks like all torrents came from teh same master, and this episode was fucked to begin with.

Blu-ray:
Sunshine The Longest Day - damn this looks friggin' amazing in black & white HD. The old 2-disc DVD transfer looks like complete crap...even by DVD standards.

gotta love boxing day! future shop has blu's for 9.99. i picked up:
Battle of the Bulge Enter the Dragon Sunshine what really pisses me off is that they've got all the recent warner kubrick's there...on blu-ray...for 9.99 each!!! fuck! if i hadn't just bought the goddamn flashy dvd box just before i picked up a ps3, id be all over those. just can't justify it to myself though. anyway, for anyone who DOESN'T have the dvd's, or really doesn't mind shelling out again, head over to future shop...its a fantastic deal. also, on standard def i picked up 4 film favorites: superman (original 4 theatrical cuts plus commentaries for under $15!) touch of evil 50th anniversary (finally) rebel without a cause 2 disc (only 8.99 at HMV!! Matt, I'll be thinking of you when i watch it) once again, boxing day rocks! |

Dave, I'll tell you this...the Kubrick blu-rays blow the DVDs away. (ESPECIALLY 2001 - A Space Odyssey).
But yeah, I went to Best Buy twice today, and I checked out Future Shop. From Future Shop I grabbbed the blu-ray of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Been meaning to get that for MONTHS now. They also had American Psycho on blu for $12.99, so I grabbed that as well. ~Matt

like your Close Encounters, thats how i felt picking up touch of evil...i've been waiting to buy that since it came out i....may....bite the bullet on 2001...thats one that i think would really take advantage of 1080p...and for less than $10....what a sweet deal, i know. |

![]() Touch of Evil is a great set. I got it the day it came out. Totally worth the $20 I spent, and the transfers look GREAT. I still have to get that new 2-disc set of Sunset Boulevard and Roman Holiday. I've held off on those for too long. ~Matt

Not a bad year at all. In fact, this one only rivals my 2003 Christmas haul:
