Great flick - love it. What do you mean "See I blind bought it last week, and it was posted today"?

Some good gory kills, and the atmosphere is good too. Definitely deserves a DVD release.

I have the old Continental release double feature with Scalps.

Good, fun horror movie ! The PAL dvd release (Vipco) is really not that great, but is the uncut full version of the film. This deserves a quality dvd release.

Oh...I shoulda explained that.
I "blind bought" it, meaning I've never seen but I bought it anyway and I got an e-mail saying the dealer had sent it to me (via mail) today so it should be here soon...

Never cared for it. It has a really "dreamy" narrative, which means nothing much ends up making any sense or having any consequence. I thought the Final Girl was a bore, too. There are much better slashers out there.

One of our staff reviewed it at Oh, The Horror a while back.

rhett, how you can like the 1981 Scream and not this is bewildering to me. I like the old Scream, but feel this is better. Oh well, C'est la vie.

Show some respect guy It is said this is where the idea for Nightmare on Elm Street came from

Oh, I don't like Scream. It is a painful experience, but the pretension of the final moments is so awe inspiring that the film becomes somewhat of an endurance test. The Slayer doesn't have any quirks like that - it's been done better by a dozen other slasher films.

I have always had a bit of a soft spot for this movie. It is very simplistic, the monster is only seen for about 4 seconds (ala The Incubus), and the ending is dumb (and wayyyy overused)...but it has a nice, bleak and creepy atmosphere to it, some memorable messy kills, and also deserves a bit of credit for being one of the few films of the era to successfully use adult characters instead of the usual teens. Far from perfect, but I think it is worthwhile. I had the double VHS with scalps for years...but now own the R2 Vipco release, which of course looks like crap.

I have to agree rhett, I found it rather tedious to sit through. The Vipco DVD looks like complete crap BTW.

The Slayer is worth checking out. I have this on a Continental Video double-feature VHS paired up with Scalps. You didn't waste your money, it's a good 80's slasher.

Is the only way to see this movie are to buy the Vipco or VHS? I would really like to see this but dont want to drop a order to amazon.uk or spend 30 bucks on ebay for this.

Thank you
sean
