Anyone getting the new Matrix blu?

I'm personally PUMPED for this blu-ray! I have wanted to own this damn movie on HD since I first got an HDTV (four years ago). When I got HD-DVD I had the opportunity to get a used Matrix HD-DVD set for $20. I passed because I don't want the damn sequels. Yes, I could just consider the $20 for the first movie (which I would gladly pay), but it always irked me I just had to get/own parts 2 and 3 in order to own the original in HD.

I will never watch the sequels again. I actually did revisit them about a year ago, so I gave them another chance, but still hate them. The Matrix now ends for me at the end of the first movie.

So I'm pumped to get this on Tuesday for $25. And that's still $5.00 more than I could buy the entire HD-DVD set for right now ($17 + shipping on inetvideo), but I will gladly do so. Hopefully it sports a new transfer, but I do like the book-like packaging on this new blu-ray disc.

I have the HD-DVD set and I don't like the Matrix enough to get the Blu Ray while still in possession of it.

To be honest, I never really was a fan of the original. I'll definitely be passing on this (although this movie's probably gonna look ridiculously amazing in high-def).

I picked up the Blu-Ray box set from Amazon.ca for $40 when it was on sale last month. I heard this new release is just a repackaging of the first movie.

I was right. It's the same disc with new packaging. Here's a review:

I am ok with that. The original blu had two defects...

Wow, thanks for the tip! Been wanting that set for awhile and that's a great price.

I'll be getting this eventually. Fuck the sequels.

I got the Blu-ray box set for Christmas, so I'm all set. I actually like the sequels, flaws and all. I also really dig The Animatrix which, unlike the previous HD-DVD set, is in full 1080P hi-def glory!

I got the box set, even though I probably will never watch the sequels.

Yah I almost bit on that. I actually read about it on High Def Digest but someone mentioned something about a standalone blu in the same thread. When I saw that was coming out Tuesday for a few dollars more, I decided against the HD-DVD set.

Parts 2 and 3.

For anyone looking to get the HD-DVD set, an Amazon seller has the Ultimate Matrix Collection for $19.99 plus shipping. That beats the inet video deal.

I may end up eating my words and getting this Ultimate HD-DVD set. I have yet to see Animatrix and I have wanted to check that out. That makes it justifiable, right? Right?

Ugh.

Legit seller, too. They offered this deal once before and I missed out on it.

The Animatrix is awesome. It's better than the sequels, that's for sure.
