New haunted house flick with NO CGI!, called The Skeptic

http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news...s.php?id=10204

Looks pretty good, minus Tom Arnold of course. Reminds of of old school horror like The Changeling, and from the trailer at least, no CGI!

this looks like it could be good... I spotted at least one scene that pays homage to The Changeling.

No CGI? I'll support it with my $s, even if it sucks.

Sounds quite good. And no CGI? I wasn't aware they still made 'em like that these days.

This does look good. I love Tim Daly. I thought he was terrific in Storm of the Century. I've always loved haunted house flicks. The Changeling is my favorite, but The Skeptic looks like it has a lot of potential.

Color us surprised. The Skeptic is a film that sorta crept up on us! Nevertheless, here's your first look at this supernatural thriller. Yahoo! has the trailer right here. Skeptic is writer-director Tennyson Bardwell's sophomore feature outing; it stars Tim Daly and Tom Arnold. IFC Entertainment releases the film on May 1st.

Synopsis: Following the mysterious death of his aunt, power lawyer Bryan Becket (Tim Daly) moves into the elderly woman's purportedly haunted Victorian mansion. A die hard skeptic, he dismisses one eerie incident after another, until the haunting turns so personal and vicious, Becket's cool, unemotional veneer begins to unravel. Whispers in the night, things he sees in the darkness, clues of a horrible secret, turn our rationalist into a terrified and reluctant seeker. A seeker of a truth so unspeakable it could destroy him. And the mystery, always just out of reach down the darkened hall, is not fully revealed until the film's final moments. And even then, it leaves a tantalizing question.
where does it say that there is no CGI?

Trailer looked all right, but I guess I'm skeptical, especially with Tom Arnold involved.

Looks pretty good. We need some more classic haunted house flicks.

If you look I wrote "and from the trailer at least, no CGI!". Either way, it looks like its low budget and I'm sure if there was any they would have shown it in the trailer. I couldn't see them spending a lot of money on some computer effects, and then not using it to promote it. I think it's done by the same company that produced Session 9 as well so... Anyways, yes I may have hyped it up with the title, but as of the trailer it looks to be CG free, so here's hoping!

I demand my $12 from you if there is CGI. And so should everyone who posts in this thread.

I caught this a few weeks ago. I'd say it works more as a mystery than outright horror, though it's all fairly straightforward. While the old house is a nice setting, the film is devoid of scares. Well, I take that back. There is one good scare, but it turns out to be a false one, no threat. The atmosphere of the house is there, it's just that the filmmakers fail to utilize it to any sizable extent. Tim Daly is okay as the "unemotional" lead, but Zoe Saldana steals her scenes as a high strung, yet appealing psychic. I felt that the ending was too abrupt. I don't mind abrupt endings, but this one pushed it. Not bad, but nothing too memorable.
