Another World Entertainment

Hi. Have any of you heard of the Scandinavian outfit, Another World Entertainment? They are brilliant, releasing superb transfers of classic giallos, and euro horror. I own about 10 of their dvds, including Cannibal Ferox, City of The Living Dead(far superior to Anchor Bay) The Beyond, Puzzle, Bay of Blood, Eaten Alive, and Cannibal Holocaust. Also just ordered Gestapos Last Orgy(the mother of all nazi films). For anyone who has never seen their films, they are well worth checking out.

I just own two of their releases: Battle Force (Lenzi) & Man of the East (Barboni)

Both are solid DVD's with dual-layer maxed bit-rates. If I only had one complaint, it's no oprional English subtitles for the Italian audio tracks, but the English audio works just as well for these two. Henry Fonda and Stacy Keach would sound quite odd dubbed into Italian anyways.

They rule! I have all the giallo series dvds they've released. I haven't watched it yet but their Deep Red does not have the freeze framed ending like the BU disc. BU said they would fix this when they rereleased it but they never did and I doubt they ever will. It really ruins the film for me and I'm happy to have the AWE release. Also, very cool are the Shameless releases from UK, although some are censored like New York Ripper(and so I don't own it). I'm waiting for them to release Footprints.

Thats the only drawback with this company. Sometimes you get small sections in Italian with no english subs. You should also avoid their Jean Rollin films, as no english option for subs. A dutch outfit called Encore, have released the definitive versions of these.

Great company. Wish they'd update their calendar.

These three have good AWE discs, if you enjoy Italian films:

Battle Force (Umberto Lenzi - WWII)
Ironmaster (Umberto Lenzi - Caveman/Barbarians)
Man of the East (Enzo Barboni - Western/Comedy)
