Have you ever purchased a DVD/Blu Ray you already own by mistake?

I've yet to do this but I've not picked up a movie a couple of times because I wasn't 100% sure I didn't already own it.

More than once.

Doesn't help matters that I often resort to Amazon's "you bought this on such and such a date." Which not only doesn't help if you bought it elsewhere, it rarely displays on solicits of new editions of the disk. Sadly I've often clicked an "out of print version" link on Amazon right after "first time" buying a new edition and finding I've just bought the same movie twice.

I should probably do a better job keeping my list synced on my mobile.

Never. I have a large collection, but I know what I own.

Nope, I know exactly what I own, and I can double check my collection on my cell if unsure.

A few times over the years but considering how big my collection is I'm surprised it hasn't happened more often.

No, I sure haven't. But I've done it a couple of times with vinyl records. Mostly because I go to a lot of record swap meets, and you're digging through stacks of records. Sometimes I forget what I have and grab a copy of something I already own.

The closest I came was a repacking of a DVD in which I already owned. The slipcover and artwork made it seem as though it was a new version, but the damn disc was identical. I can't remember which film it was...

Once, Devil Dog: The Hound of Hell (1978). The DVD somehow got lost in my collection. I couldn't find it no matter how hard I looked. One year later I bought it again, and shortly after I found the first copy again in my collection

I used to see my mom do this over and over with paperbacks, so I make an effort not to follow. She collected horror books, I collect discs. Sucks knowing the gene is there though.

Re-issues have come close to getting me, but so far no doubles except knowing upgrades.
