![]() Oh, and it was pure coincidence(or luck) that she was in the news today. Pretty funny if you ask me. Last edited by baggio; 04-06-2010 at 10:08 PM. |

I speak for myself and many of my friends when I say that growing up listening to actual musical ARTISTS (like Grace Jones, Kate Bush etc) makes Lady Gaga seem completely boring and unoriginal in comparison. She may last a while, but she'll disappear into complete obscurity.
The Backstreet Boys were around much longer than I expected, but no one even whispers about them anymore. Same with Nsync, same with the Spice Girls. They may have had a bit more than just 15 min of fame, but they're nothing more than a fart in the wind now. I assure you that this poor man's "diva" will experience the same.

Lolla is held in Chicago only, over a few days usually around the beginning of August and from what I hear is a pretty big thing there. The smaller stages are where the actual good music can be found but there are so many bands playing all day long on multiple stages anyone with remotely decent taste in music can find something they like. I have a friend that goes every year but with the usually very hot weather and enormous crowd and expensive passes I havent decided to go myself. If it was in my younger days absolutely but now it just doesnt interest me that much especially when you also add in hotel and transportation and food , etc. I am very surprised Lady Gaga is there though, just doesnt seem like a normal headliner for the event but maybe that is exactly why they asked her?

I listen to pop radio at work, because my co-workers wouldn't take too kindly to Skinny Puppy, and various industrial shit that I listen to at home. But I have to say, as someone who is obsessed with synthesis and synthesizers in general, there is somthing better about Gaga's production than your average pop stuff (no preset Trance leads like on every other track on pop radio). :] Oh well. Also, Alejandro sounds exactly like Ace of Base. Laaaame.

I think we need to bring this thread full circle. Lets start the controversy all over again. I know just how to do it:
"Lady Gaga is a whore." ...discuss. |

Well, let's just say this. You're pretty much an idiot at this point if you think she's just gonna fade into nothingness. To honestly compare her to the Spice Girls and The Backstreet Boys? You have to be fucking kidding me. She definitely stands apart from other performers of her time (her performances are incredible).
I'm not gonna argue anything like "well her songs have hit number 1 on the Billboard charts" cuz that's a cheap argument in any perspective. But if you honestly think that at this point she's going to fade into nothingness I for one believe you're sorely mistaken. You don't like her? Tough shit, she's definitely gonna be around for years to come. ~Matt
