I actually don't mind her. Paparazzi, Poker Face and Love Game really aren't that bad. I'm not one for pop music but I do have respect for Lady Gaga. Come on...the girl's fucking talented. She went to Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. If you get in there...I don't give a shit what anybody says...if you get into Tisch...you're fucking talented. Argue it all you want, but you're wrong if you disagree. The girl can sing, dance and play piano very well. Pop is the route she wanted to go, let her do what she wants.

She's actually only a few years older than me, and one of my friends actually knows her. Funny because he still refers to her as Stefani.

Completely agreed on Gwen's stupid single choices, especially after "The Sweet Escape." "Serious" and "Fluorescent" are obvious, but I think her best song to date is "U Started It" and that got the shaft as well.

Actually, your not as alone as you think, mi amigo. I actually HATE all forms of Metal as a music genre, myself, and was just never too into anything hard. In fact, I'm honestly a bit anti-social in my answer of truthfulness, some might say, in that I don't really personally enjoy music all that much. Never was too much into collecting it. I have maybe under 15 artists & bands who's music I have enjoyed over time, but was never a serious collector or listener. Not NEARLY of that which I am into 35mm movies, I can confirm. I can listen to around four-plus songs, and then I want complete silence and to be alone. It's just always been my way, personally.

And yeah, people always find it interesting when I tell to them how I'm this open minded guy who prefers to collect & watch a lot of old school Exploitation, general Slasher & Giallo films and past decades Horror from a good four decades, as well as some super serious action/horror and horror/comedy films, and I tell them that I absolutely NEVER enjoyed Metal, and always found it an oddly immature form of music. Not ment to incite a major discussion, but it was just always my opinion. And yet I know most of my fellow super serious genre fanatics & collectors and fellow film convention goer's, such as myself, are mostly all big time in that genre of music. To each they're own, I guess.

Which is fine & dandy and all, but honestly, I don't care for most forms and most genre's of music such as it is, but especially if it's loud, obnoxious Metal (of any sub-genre, by the way: Thrash, Speed, Death, Horror-Punk type, ect) coming through speakers, then I'll leave the room politely as soon as I can, or until that shit is over & done with. It's just me, you have to understand.

I'm not that plugged into pop culture so I wasn't aware of the tranny criticism. It was something I noticed from watching 30 seconds of a routine on So You Think you Can Dance. Nice to see my 30 second observation was spot on.

What do you live in a cave? Regardless if you like her music or not, there should be some sort of minor acknowledgment of her.

However, I had never heard of her until I shot an interview with her late last year. I swear to God, only a month or so later she blew up and was everywhere. I'd like to think I had something to do with that...

I like her. I think pop music as a genre is getting and more interesting now that the boyband phase has all but completely waned.

Count me in on this group as well. While a lot of bubble gum pop irritates me for the similarities, I find heavy metal just as often, if not more, repetitive and flimsy as a style choice. I mean, I remember going to school and a bunch of us would make fun of the kids with KISS and AC/DC black sweatshirts on (YES, okay, we were assholes; And I do kind of like AC/DC and KISS, probably because they aren't 'all out' metal). I just think it brings up discussion a lot when I do not see what to discuss. Like...heavy metal...loud and guitar solos...yay guitar solos...oh, that is it.

Well it IS a horror forum. Most people live in 'caves', as in their house, 23.5 hours of the day, except to get a bag of popcorn/chips or two.

I'm not surprised. I just barely heard of her myself. I don't watch TV or listen to the radio much so I never encountered her that way. After stumbling across her name a couple times in the newspaper I decided to take a peek at her on YouTube. So the fact that someone in this forum is even more successful than me in completely avoiding pop culture doesn't seem like too much of a stretch.

On that blew up & is everywhere thing. How true that is. Her music is everywhere. From radio, music videos, background in television shows & movies.
Its everywhere. They use her music in those various dance reality shows, etc...
She herself has been on just about every music award show, late night show, morning news show, American Idol type stuff, etc...

That's why I figured How can anyone not notice her?

On my opinion of her. I didn't pick either choice because I don't love or hate. But she is pretty decent. She quite interesting performer (by the way I like all types of music. From metal to country) Her Paparazzi video is haunting. (I urge people to take a look at the video) I do like the fact that she signs live most of the time. A rarity among most pop stars.

There are a lot of things people can spend their leisure time on that don't include network television, MTV and pop music radio. I myself no longer have any TV shows I watch regularly that aren't related to the NFL. I listen to video game, sports and horror related podcasts when in my car. I play video games or watch movies when I have a couple a hours to kill. Before cable TV and the Internet it would have been impossible to escape Pop music's flavor of the month but thankfully its very easy these days.

CrazyFatEthel said in another post that Avril Lavgine is one the best bands of the 2000's. I couldn't stop laughing because I have never heard one of her songs, know the title of one of her songs, or have any idea what she sounds like. I've seen her name mentioned on message boards so I'm aware she's very popular, but she's not showing up on my radar. I'm only 34 but you kids on this board make me feel old. I'm very close to starting all of my posts with "Back in my day.."
